I actually enjoy puzzles in video games so backtracking and searching the maps do not bother me that much as I am used to it. Although I can see why that would be so frustrating, but I think the game is fantastic regardless.

I would have to have Metal Gear Solid on my 10/10 list. Before buying it I was hyped up by all the magazines at the time, but once I actually got it home and played it I was enthralled. The sneaky gameplay, the story, the characters, the music, all of it just pulled me right into that world. When the roller coaster was done and the credits were rolling, I just felt incredibly satisfied. Then there was the end credits tease, and I realized I could play through again with a special item I had unlocked and that was all she wrote. I ended up doing two playthroughs back to back, which was kind of rare for me. Kojima and his team made a masterpiece with Metal Gear Solid.

Final Fantasy VII is a definite 10/10 game for me. I was swept off on a whirlwind adventure like i'd never experienced before, summoning giant creatures and gathering Materia for the completely absorbing character customisation set-up. Cosmo Canyon's catchy tune still plays in my mind to this very day. Great video 👍

For me a 10/10 retro game has gotta be Mega Man X4. Easily among the best in the series right next to the original X. Gorgeous 32-bit sprites, a rockin’ soundtrack, and ultra tight controls. A great game to go back to time and time again. Sadly it was the last good X game, but hopefully Capcom will reignite the series properly in the future…

I 100% agree. COD4 did change a lot. But what started the online multiplayer change before COD4 was halo 2 and halo 3 (of course counter strike too). But COD didn’t continue to be great, just like halo didn’t continue to be great. Halo started at 1 and stopped at 3. CoD started and stopped at 4.

The Streets of Rage fan Remake that Sega took down is one of the best beat em ups ever. All of the goodness of streets of rage 1, 2, and 3 all versions mashed together and running at 1080p widescreen.

Chrono Trigger is absolutely 10/10. It's a masterpiece. I first played it on PS1 after a friend in junior high school recommended it to me repeatedly. I went in blind, I renamed Crono to my name, and I was not prepared for the twists and turns. Absolutely love this game. Shout out to Josh for convincing me to play it back in the day. I wish I had kept in touch with him.

These are my 10/10 RPGs: Dragon Warrior 4 (NES), Dragon Quest 5 (DS), Dragon Quest 8, Phantasy Star 2, Sword of Vermillion, Illusion of Gaia, Final Fantasy 2 SNES (4), Final Fantasy 3 SNES (6), Chrono Trigger, Zelda 1-3 and Link's Awakening, Zelda Oracle of Ages and Zelda Oracle of Seasons, Final Fantasy Adventure, Wild Arms, Wild Arms: Alter Code F, and Wild Arms 3. Wild Arms 2 just barely misses it. I've played through it a few times, but I find that particular game a little off and not as good as the other ones. Secret of Mana was good, but I just wasn't feeling it.

Replaying Symphony of the Night now and yes....10/10. The backgrounds, the sprite work, the soundtrack...absolutely incredible. Chrono Trigger easy 10/10. No nostalgia here either. I played the game the first time about 8 years ago and it's ridiculously good. Totally agree. SOR2 is the best game on the Genesis/Megadrive for me I feel the same way about Waverace on the N64, it has incredible water physics that were mind blowing when released and I've not seen it bettered to this day and it still plays amazing to this day. Love the game, even Nintendo themselves couldn't get close with the GameCube version. Great video 👍

Regarding a chrono trigger sequel, I remember reading back in the day when chrono cross came out that square couldn't use the characters or world of the original as they didn't own the story. Due to Japanese laws the story belongs to the writer and they left on bad terms so square can't use any of the story elements. I don't know how true that is, but I know I read it in gamepro when magazines were still a thing. It would certainly explain why there are rumours of a cross remake and not trigger.

An easy pick for me would be Metal Gear Solid. Up to that point I’d never played such a cinematic game, controls were great, so much to do with huge replay value, Easter eggs and fantastic graphics. The biggest thing for me was that the villains weren’t just moustache twirling parodies: I genuinely felt for them when they died and a couple I even felt sorry for. Psycho Mantis and Sniper Wolf especially. What an epic story to play through after all the hype of the games magazines and demo disks. I don’t think I’ll ever be as excited for another game as I was for MGS.

I remember playing Metal Gear Solid 2 after picking it up at the bargain bin section of Gamestop and being completely mind fucked at how many years I've been ignoring the oringal game not knowing what the hell it was. It was a surreal game because of how realistic the concepts in the games are to today's political climate.
