For all of you people that say Dr. Greger is "a quack", "doesn't know what he is talking about", "he is misinformed", "drunk", I have a few questions for you. Have any of you actually tried eating whole food plant based, no salt, oil or sugar? Have you lost weight? How is your blood work? Are your lipid numbers good? If you haven't eaten this way, then you do not know what you are talking about. Don't knock it until you have tried it.
@ksitigarbha9787

I have tried it and it does work. Way better than the standard American diet. But it's not perfect. You can't eat oatmeal mixed with nuts seeds and fruits and think that is optimal.

I watch all 3 parts and I loved them all. Great stuff Ken!!! As far as the food combining and the water with food questions, I was blown away. I have been vegan for 29 years and had always accepted certain things as facts and now my world is turned upside down . I have to rethink everything now!!! Thanks for a great interview Ken!

If you drink water while eating it dilutes digestive juices, not saliva, and thereby hampered proper digestion.

I respect Dr. Gregor, but, his assessment of food combining is totally in error! After 32 years of a plant based diet I have proven beyond a doubt that food combining is the most fundamental aspect of any healthful diet. The idea that you can combine sweet fruit and acid fruit without digestive consequences is totally ridiculous. 99% of the plant based presenters on KZbin do not mention food combining, and, they have little if any accurate knowledge about optimal diets. Cooked vegan poorly combined diets are not optimal. The only optimal diet is 80/10/10. Yes you reduce the risk of disease with cooked vegan, but, you are still not eating even close to a species specific diet, and, you will not get optimal results in either energy or performance or health outcomes.

I love Dr. Greger, but I have to disagree with him on several of these from personal experience and logic. Exercise does engage the sympathetic nervous system, drawing the blood away from digestion to the muscles. Cold water definitely will screw up digestion and sweating; you need to keep a fire in your belly. If he practiced any energy arts like kigong/taichi he would revise some of his statements.

Bob Schmob I agree. He knows his stuff about Nutrition but digestion is a whole new ballgame. If I had a smoothie bowl topped with nuts, fruit and seeds (like the thousand smoothie bowls I’ve seen on You Tube) I would be miserable and bloated all day!
@walkingmonument
@walkingmonument 7 жыл бұрын
patty 8873 I don't disagree that you would be bloated but take it from someone who mixes nuts legumes fruit (including citrus bananas and berries) veggies seeds powders and spices into everyone of my smoothies everyday, I never get bloated. I get full and satiated but I never get gassy and uncomfortable. I think it really has a lot to do with an individuals gut flora and that is something that he does mention repeatedly
@bobschmob8233

Closing the Loop Please don't take offense to this but I highly doubt that you are either A. Strictly following a whole food plant based diet and or B. Don't have digestive issues. Lots if ppl love to make claims but in the end they lie to themselves and others about the truth. Which is really irresponsible and arrogant. Not saying that you are. But this is often the case. If you aren't gassy or bloated you might display or suffer other issues that you may in fact be unaware of. Do you have belly fat? Have trouble with weight, blood sugar, cholesterol, erectile dysfunction, body odor etc??? It isn't until people are 100% honest that we get an accurate representation and the truth. Many people are not completely honest with themselves much less others. And many people aren't even aware of their own body, what's going on within their body.
@bobschmob8233
@bobschmob8233 7 жыл бұрын
Closing the Loop Also it's important to note that blending all that into a smoothie changes the structure of the food thus making it a singular food rather than many and also predigested. Smoothies are the next quickest thing to digest besides fruits in their whole form. You may be getting all those foods into your body but you are likely missing out on a ton of nutrition because your body isn't absorbing the full nutrients of the foods. It's essentially going through you before it can assimilate. There are no digestive juices that are required from the mouth for some foods and in the stomach for others. It's essentially a train wreck in your body but the train has already been dismantled into pieces. Just getting healthy foods does not mean you assimilate them absorb their nutrients and get their full benefit. You can eat flax and chia seeds all you want and get zero benefit from them if they are not ground beforehand. This is an example everyone has finally understood yet they don't put this practice and perspective into other foods or a holistic understanding of foods and our body, how it works and all comes together to have optimum nutrition.
@walkingmonument
@walkingmonument 7 жыл бұрын
Bob Schmob I've always had issues with belly fat but I've been able to lose weight and maintain weight better since doing this particular smoothie. Erectile dysfunction? I was eating a high fat high protein low carb diet in 2007 and I was only able to maintain that for 2 months. During that time I noticed having trouble getting it up. But now? I'm 40 years old and wake up with a raging boner every morning even if I had sex the night before. I have sex 6 or more times a week and can get it up with little inducement. Now with regards to truth and being honest. It doesn't matter how honest i am if someone is so stuck on their dogmas that they rather imagine that someone is lying. It's rather convenient

This guy is so off base! You don't have to be a doctor to know the truth. Personal experience is your best gauge. I used to get terrible heartburn after a big meal and didn't know why. I then read Eat Right To Keep Fit and found out that because I ate some fruit after my main course it created the heartburn. Eat fruit alone. I also can't eat dessert after a meal. I have to wait about 2 hours. All from personal experience confirmed by proper food combining.

Ìˋm amazed by the arrogance of this guy, which you sense from every formal and informational aspect of this conversatiom. I seriously doubt any of those „ridiculous“ have an actual scientific base (who did actually prove experimentally that there is not a distress if you drink water during (and not before/after) a meal?). Using the current absence of supporting scientific data to mark an hypothesis as „ridiculous“ is just poor judgment. And Ìˋm really concerned if people just listen to a random guy with a medical licence and stop listening to their own bodies.
