Don’t worry we will be doing a break down of the lawsuit filed Friday next month 😅
@ashtonreads9 күн бұрын
Haha romancelandia really never gives you a break. That lawsuit could have a video all it's own tbh. It's already WILD.

I’m considering it in the new year cause it’s definitely got a lot to discuss 😬

Interesting that you bring up fanfic etiquette, because I think being in that space really normalized warning for triggering content, and generally having fun with the tags.I cannot fathom being bothered by content warnings. Saying "this book includes: friends to lovers, inacurate depiction of camping, and too many tangents into native california plants." Isn't diminished by including "anxiety attack, parental neglect". 🎁 💝

Oo your so right though. It makes it feel like a whatever vs how some people act about them. I never reflected on the normalcy there making it just like whatever in the books I read. 💖💖💖

Lol. You do way more fun stuff than I do and I can clearly see how you make time to read. It's time management and some people just don't have it. Have a good holiday season

The truth of it all right there. It’s so much time management and prioritization of what you wanna do. Have a wonderful holiday season 💖💖💖💖

I forgot Rosamund Hodge was this year. Oof. This year was a lot. The TikTok discussions will definitely be more in 2025 considering the Supreme Court case. And the It Ends With Us discussions will definitely be more considering Blake Lively's lawsuit and that NYT article expose. 🎁

I was thinking back on everything in 2024 and just like wow. It was a lot. Agreed I’m prepping myself to read through the lawsuit in the next week or so and deep dive it for next months update 💖💖💖

I read 150 books this year and my newish coworker turns to me and asks if that is my "one hobby". I jokingly said "it defines my personality" but it kinda genuinely hurt because I'm a mom to young kids, so the things I used to do before kids I don't get to do near as much.
@HappyforNow7 күн бұрын
Ugh I hate that so much. Spending what time you can reading is so valid and important 💖💖💖

This was such a wild year in the book community…I can’t believe some of these things happened this year! I’m excited to hear your coverage of the new developments with IEWU! And thank you for calling out the rancid cyclical takes about reading. And people are getting more and more ridiculous. Some people just ask about the standard 100, but I saw back to back takes asking about 50 and 30 a year? I know I’m a big reader, but I’d have to actively *not* prioritize reading to get my numbers that low. And they’re the ones who think it’s a competition 🙄
@HappyforNow8 күн бұрын
It really was and it feels like we just keep amping up each year. IEWU is probably going to be an entire dedicated mini episode I think 😬 I’m sorry thinking 30 or 50 is excessive is absolutely bananas. I don’t even know what kind of year I’d have to experience to read that few for me 😅

I love Brandon Sanderson’s works, they’re becoming my favourite books of all time, and as a romance/romantacy reader who also reads fantasy, it makes me happy to hear him tell people nicely to shut up 😂
@HappyforNow9 күн бұрын
Fair. I think he’s popular for a lot of reasons but has had minimal appeal for me to pick up. Maybe that will change eventually. I still appreciate him telling people to stop being butts 😂💖💖💖

It’s funny because I just had the how do you read so much convo with my dad and like. I don’t watch tv. That’s it. That’s how I read so much. I don’t watch TV all that often.

You summarised it perfectly: There was a lot of drama from people I had never heard of in my life😂 Definitely very entertaining though!🤣 Also think all your predictions will be accurate. 🎁🎄🕯

I dont know much about fanfic so i didnt know about not rating or reviewing. Very interesting
@HappyforNow9 күн бұрын
Fan fiction is a gift from fans for fans of a thing. So they aren’t looking for critique hence no review/rating. It’s also part of why they shouldn’t be on goodreads as books. Also it defeats some of the gray area it gets to live in if we put it on the same level as a book 💖

LMAO not JLA your nemesis. but i agree those books send me walking the other way. I think all your predictions are correct whether we like it or not. the discourse keeps discoursing. WHAT A YEAR. I forgot about the Tracy Wolf thing... I wonder what will happen there.
@HappyforNow11 күн бұрын
That book series is a disaster and the fans have made it that it’s/she is 100% my nemesis. It really does keep discoursing in very similar patterns I feel like I’m just watching my pattern recognition go off 😂💖💖💖

re : mm books & sa rep as a queer guy, its there. ik that was likely a very romance focus ask but so much of queer lit does highlight sa/violence of that nature. im not kidding, all you have to do it is look past the top 10 lists. so many writers of colour especially do handle it with the nuance it deserves.
@HappyforNow8 күн бұрын
100% I’ve read so many queer books that highlight it too and it just so strange to act like it’s never highlighted in romance ones too. And exactly two more seconds of searching and you’d have a list of those who identify writing it 💖💖💖

I don't need trigger warnings (My triggers are kind of niche and not even constant) , and I listen to audiobooks, and I just forward to the beginning of the book. If I don't fast forward enough, not a biggie, lol.

I'm so tired of reading a romance book where the characters are having offline discussions about fanfic. I DNF'd one where the mmc would read spicy fanfic about himself some of which he knew was written by teens.
