Thank you sincerely for sharing your knowledge with us. I only discovered HHH a week or so ago and can already play several KD kirtans/bhajans, with some transition notes and some melody too - huge progress !I'm playing a 1982 casiotone synthesizer with the Bandoneon setting selected which is as near as I can get to a harmonium, but will be buying an Indian instrument soon, so a tutorial along those lines would be great; for example, side pull bellows against "the other" kind, three and a half octave against three and a quarter - is there a better quality sound from the bigger instrument ? And so on...And if I can impose further, Brindavan Hare Ram is a lovely tune providing you can find the time to create a tutorial for us. On namah shivaya. David.

It would be good to see the cords laid out with the words !

For me, it's recognizing they're tight while playing, then loosening. Perhaps some cue on the harmonium would help (like a sticky note, or something that sticks out) Eventually, the body builds a habit of relaxing

This is awesome, and I love all your videos, except I got confused on pt-3 with the hare starting on the "re" with the Am. Where is the rest of it? Is there a rest of it, or is that just the whole part, because in the beginning you played it as Ha-re(Am) Krishna Hare (C) Hare (G). Before you went into progression 4. I think there may be something I am missing.

Namastê! Hi there! In first place thank you very much for your excellent videos! I'd like to ask a question: How do you get such a smooth sound? When I pump the air into the harmonium I get an oscillation in the vibration that I don't hear in your videos. Maybe is the type and/or regulation of the harmonium? Mine is a monoji portable, 2,5 scales. If there are some secrets regarding "smoothness" in the sound production, maybe would be a nice idea for new videos? Again, thank you!
@isaiahrainmaynard61516 жыл бұрын
Om and Blessings, I am fairly new to Harmonium and very new to playing music, however I may be able to answer your question... The oscillation sound could very well be the type of harmonium you have, but it could also be how you have your stops situated. The knobs on the front of the harmonium will allow different amounts of air to enter the bellow chambers. I know that with my harmonium I have the first stop out all the way, and then the second one halfway pulled out, this gives mine the smoothest, best sounding drone--in my opinion. Try messing around with yours! Happy playing :)

I have a book harmonium! I can't locate the chords on my harmonium as the keys are not lining up with yours , how do I adapt it ? New player only had three lessons so far these online lessons look great I love Krishna Das just don't know how to adapt it to my harmonium
@HappyHippoHarmonium7 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry I don't quite understand exactly what's not working for you. What do you mean by locate the chords? It could be that the version in the book is played in a different key, or that the chords are inverted or expressed differently. If you give me some more info I can help you better. I know the version here works, and I'm sure the version in your book does too, so you could just play them separately.
@Bhaktikidssangha7 жыл бұрын
HappyHippoHarmonium do you have an email I could send a pic of my harmonium the keys seem different to yours? I love your version very eager to learn it it's just the right end of yours starts with two black keys and mine starts with three?

HappyHippoHarmonium hey there have you had an opportunity to think about how I can play this on a mini /book harmonium? Happy to email you a pic of the harmonium itself , wish I'd bought a full size on like yours !
@xamaranto7 жыл бұрын
As long as the keys have the same general notes that he's playing in the mantra you should be fine even if the overall number of keys are different. There are many types of harmoniums and a mini/book harmonium should be fine. You need to match them by which notes he is playing rather than where his hand is on the keyboard (i.e. he starts off with a chord that uses A, C, and E). As long as you can identify where A, B, C, D, E, F, G, A, B, C and so forth are on the harmonium (which makes a full octave) then you'll know which notes he uses for each chord and can locate those on your own harmonium.
