I’m in the early phases of planning a trip to Rome next year and this was the most informative video on Rome I’ve seen yet.

Do a lot of preparation because 2025 is a Jubilee year. The city will be in gorgeous shape but will be packed like never before.

Love your video! We'll be going to Italy next summer (no choice, wife is a grade 6 teacher here in Montreal, QC) and I was taking notes while I was watching, and I also saved it to my favourites. Our plan is to land at FCO from YUL and spend 5 nights in Rome before moving on to the Naples Metropolitan area for another 5 nights (no details yet on that, still in planning stages), then we rent a car and drive up to Termoli for 3 nights so we can visit Larino, the comune where my paternal grandfather was born, which is 25 minutes away. After that we will drive to Fiumicino and drop the car off and spending out last night there before flying back to Montreal the next day. My wife found an interesting 3 day itinerary for Rome, and we already have a strategy for visiting the sites. Go super early, and come back to our Airbnb when the people from the cruise ships come and play tourist. Have lunch and go back once they're back on their ships and visit the piazzas in the evening when they're less crowded.

Honestly, I thought the Vittoriano (or Altare della Patria) was incredible. Photos don't do it justice. I can imagine what the Colosseum, with it's gleaming white marble, must have looked like back in the day when I see the Vittoriano.

Piazza Navona is my absolute favorite place to sit with a scoop of gelato and people watch. 😊 Oh and if you have time a day trip to Capri is highly recommended! An absolute fantastic experience! Something I will definitely do again.

I agree that the Vatican Museums are super-packed to the point of unpleasant, but it is pretty much the only way to see the Sistine Chapel. Get your Vatican Museums tickets in as far in advance as possible, as they sell out early. If you are on the Aventine Hill, you can't miss Santa Sabina, remarkable for its state of preservation from the 5th century.

I was in Rome last month and the pasta was SOOOO good. I had bucatini all'amatriciana twice and mezzi paccheri alla carbonara. I swear I would fly down for a weekend just to eat the food. 😅

Question: I am going to visit Italy soon in October for the first time with my husband. We are seniors. I a bit anxious. Which local tour companies you recommend? I heard there are golf cart tours. What companies manage them? and how do I visit some of the places you mentioned in this video if I would like to go by myself? should I go by taxi ? for example if I want to come back from the Borghese to my hotel, would there be a taxi stand there or I should call the taxi company.

I thought the Vatican Museums was worth it with a guide but OMG it was CROWDED. Even so, it's almost impossible to get tickets. The Sistine Chapel, though impressive, was just impossibly crowded. There were at least 500 people in there so it was a disappointment.

Bad news Christina.. you threw the coins over your right shoulder not your left... Now you have to go back and fix it lol.

Well if you have to back if you accidentally threw it over your right shoulder, it also worked.
