There is a reason that Vietnam has one of the most confusing road systems in the world - to slow down and to trap foreign invasion force! French, Japanese and American forces were well equipped with military technologies and weapons that were much superior to the Vietnamese foot soldiers. As we all know what happened to them at the end. The most recent land invasion took place in Vietnam was the China-Vietnam War in 1979, the Chinese attempted to invade Vietnam with over one hundred thousand soldiers with well-equipped weapons. They planned to reach Hanoi within 1 week when the war started. Unfortunately, they had to run back to China quickly after 1 month with heavy loses.
