As a farang businessman, I first traveled to Bangkok in 1995. This video shows similar street scenes and street food, except the cars were different, and the clothes different. I'm now retired in Jakarta, and many similarities.

Meine Eltern waren 64-65 in Bangkok als mein Vater mit seiner italienischen Band dort gearbeitet hat. Das Restaurant hiess "Carlton" und bis vor einigen Jahren gab es das noch auf der Silom Road. Danke fürs Uploaden. Das ist Teil meines Lebens, schliesslich bin ich dort entstanden :-)

Markets exactly the same as now. Those sounds of the road have been added. You don't hear horns blowing, it would be considered impolite.

yes, I added some sounds to the movie since my grandfather did not record any sounds and silent movies are not very popular. I have to apology that I did not have any traffic sounds without horns - would have been closer to reality, I understand.

Maybe back then honking was a norm. Not today. In the 80s the motor cyclist would rev up at the traffic signals and zoom to race, that was more noise than the honking. Today motor cyclist don’t do it

Somehow I got a penchant for the great old days especially in Bangkok, life was simple and people were nice with smiling faces around. However, things are changing at faster pace with high-rise buildings and people in Bangkok don't smile so much now. Sigh!

@Yoswin Freeman yes, I added the sounds when editing the film some years ago. The original footage was silent since my grandfather did not record any sounds. As you said, Yoswin, that would have required additional equipment. The Bolex camera itself was already pretty heavy. I pointed out in the film description that I added sounds (and who to credit for it), but KZbin only shows the text when user click on "show more...".
