Very nice video David! Good memories for us as previous campers. Still loving PMTS and Harald and Diana many years later. Thanks for posting this. Looks like you had a great week.

David, when my wife first learned PMTS she would bring in the inside foot to the outside boot without flexing and tipping. I would recommend over the summer to work on the tipping board to improve this movement. Inside foot tipping needs to happen from the start to the finish of the turn, without it the inside foot is flat and their is no LTE to transfer balance.

Great advice. I have just been on another Harb camp, this time at Hintertux in Austria, and we worked on tipping, tipping, tipping!

Is Brenda's boot alignment out ( looks a little knock knee ) or is it a result of technique of not tipping the inside foot enough & bringing the inside foot back & towards the downhill ski boot ? PMTS movements are simply the best which are the most efficient movements any level of skier can make.

Brenda does not extend the legs the necessary couple inches between edge change and fall line. Hence her weight is too far aft on the skis for the ski shovels to self initiate the turn. Therefore she must often stem to start the turn.

I have to say, that in this video 90% of the the turns are not carving turns. You carve the snow only after you have pivoted your skis first, during the traverse. A carving turn must have at least an apex with carving skis at the point where the skis turn fastest. If you pivot your skis too much there will be no apex. So the start of these turns are not good enough and the pivoting saves the turns. What you need is a much earlier active ankle edging of the skis, but the edgings must be prepared... The best way of preparation is to pull back the new inside ski (valley-side ski during a traverse) forcefully, so that the ski-tip gets pressed to the snow and now you can edge it by your ankle (supination). Then you edge also the new outside ski by your ankle (pronation).

You are quite right. We are just students early in the learning process.

Методика такого катания далеко не новая. Основы её были разработаны в 1973 году с большим количеством подводящих упражнений.

Is this what expert skiing is about in PMTS?

No - this was really a fun video produced for some friends. To learn more about PMTS, you should look at videos from Harald Harb. I called us experts, but we are just students that are very far from the expert level. However we are all fans of PMTS and fans of Harald Harb's teaching system. I can tell you from my own experiences that I have gone from a skier that could not carve a turn, that I now am able to carve all my turns, and my pleasure from my skiing has increased greatly as a result.
