How to Learn Chinese Characters | Introduction to Chinese Characters

In this lesson I'll give you tips and tricks to help you learn Chinese Characters.
Did you know that most Chinese Characters give you hints about their meaning and even their pronunciation? This lesson covers the different kinds of characters that are useful for chinese learners including pictographs, simple ideographs, compound ideographs, and semantic phonetic compounds. I'll also show you how more complex chinese characters are buit from simpler components, and give you other information that will help you to understand and more easily learn Chinese Characters.
Additionally, I'm happy to announce that I'm going to start a series of lessons that teach to read and write Chinese Characters. In each lesson I'll teach you new characters as well as give you tips to help memorize them, and show you to write them.

Excellent canonical introduction to Chinese characters: includes examples of pictograms, ideograms (both simple and complex) as well as pictophonetic characters. 10/10 Includes tips for memorization of Chinese characters. Yishuang's English pronunciation is great, presentation is also wonderful. Nothing much to correct or improve were there I would say. 加油！

Thank you, sister. When I was studying Japanese in Japan, my teachers told me that you could easily get through life in Japan just by knowing 2,000 characters. However, in Japanese the pronunciation of a character can change according to its position, some retain their original Chinese pronunciation but also have others. Easy example: 女 = ONNA 女性 = JYO SEI The example above shows how the same character, 女, can have completely different pronunciation. Some characters have up to 6 or even more different pronunciation. What helped me a lot while learning, apart from school, was paying attention to signs at the train stations, reading menus, etc. Because if you can associate a character with something it's much easier to remember it. If in China, see how many times you can recognise the characters you have just studied and how they are used. I love Chinese, though the pronunciation seems very difficult but I watch a lot of Chinese dramas with subtitles and I have learned a lot of common expression. However, as I love 仙侠， I am learning ancient style Chinese. 🤣😁🤗💖
