I recently purchased the Harbor Freight 20 Ton Press and I am very pleased with it. I thought that if you are considering purchasing a shop press, you may want to consider this press and see a video reviewing it. Some of the spec are:
Weight: 160lbs
Height: 61 in
Width: 27-5/8 in
Jack Travel: 5-1/2 in
Max gap: 36 in
All steel construction

I'm looking to buy a hoist, any recommendations? Nice idea on the casters, this thing is not fun to move. Where did you get them and how big are the casters?

Nice video. I appreciate your opinions as I am considering a similar purchase. One of my big concerns...safety. materials under pressure can fly off the press with great energy...and I would be standing right in front pumping up to 20 tons with a hand pump jack??? Hmm??? Have you had any flying metal issues?

Although the manufacture may have intended the holes for anchoring the press to the floor, it's not a very good thing to do since you will end up having to move that press often/periodically and so first thing I did was to buy a set of quality made locking casters and now can EASILY move the press out from the wall for when I have longer parts to put in it, and then simply give a small shove to put it right back in it's place. I've used my press countless times now for ALL kinds of jobs and haven't had something 'kick' out and cause the whole press to jolt.... if something kicks out, it's because the operator wasn't as careful as he should of been to make sure it was going to stay securely in place under such pressures

What brand / type wheels did you get, and did you have to drill additional holes in the "feet" to mount them?

Great video. Much better than watching some diy guy play with his lathe for 20min.

For long-duration clamping, 3/4" all-thread, a couple of I-beams from the scrap yard, and a few hours of work in the shop... One should be able to cobble something together with a minimum of inexpensive hand and power tools.

Someone did a video on the jack and found out the jack oil has kerosene in it to thin it out for colder climates. Draining the jack oil and replacing it with Bar's Leak jack oil with stop leak might stop the leak. He found little metal particles from the manufacturing process in the oil, so replacing the oil is probably not a bad idea.

Can you connect this to an hydraulic pump or air compressor for automatic pressing?

Did they ever find that guy with the twisted welding table, the one making the press table that rocks, and stick a shim under one leg? Sheesh, how many years, how many products? I think that the energy stored in pressing flat the table before any work gets done is what propels those broken plates people talk about.

If 100 pounds is too much for you to lift you could have tried opening the box while in SUV and removing 1 piece at a time. LOGIC.

Seriously you HAD to have a second person to get that out of your SUV?? LOL For virtually ANYTHING that fits in my SUV or even my PU truck (well short of a huge bag of sand or gravel etc) the only "friend" I ever seem to need is named Gravity lol ...well maybe a ramp to slide something down although typically for something REALLY heavy I might back vehicle up to one of the hills on my property (works GREAT) Even when I lived in regular house on a residential street I would often just back up the curb which effectively brings ground (grass) that much closer to bed...NO WAY I would ever ask for help for a measly 160llbs! For that matter I could simply open ithe carton n the vehicle and take it out pieces at a time (BTDT several times too).....LOL ...just saying is all
