They came through just in time as I'm ready to weld this truck up.

Got one of these myself just a bit over a month ago - the 220v version as well. Already used it to repair a nice stainless cart I had that the spot welds had popped in a few places. Now it's like new! If you have access to 220v, get that version!

We have a metal shop and tried a few of the harbor freight spot welders . We tried to work it too hard, its failure point was always the threaded connection for the points , you might extend the life if you can keep the tips cool. A wet rag of something more ingenious. Our big spot welder has water flow through the tips and that helps

I'm not going to be using this one too much, but will watch the heat build up.
@airecraft12 ай бұрын
@ good deal, the threads stretched on ours and the tips wouldn’t tighten

Awesome spot welder, thanks for the video

I'm sure you've had to use one over the years

This is the DT. The reflector frames are the major difference between this and the D. The D has cast aluminum frames, and the DT has stamped frames. The design change allowed for the rubber lens gaskets to mate with the reflector and create a "Dust Tight" seal while the D had cork lens gaskets. It's a wonderful light from a time that design was a priority for infrastructure as opposed to today's simple streamlined designs.

Yup, used one back in 1973 to make a tool box in shop class. I think that one had to stay on the bench and didn't know the tips wore out. Actually I still have that tool box. Mom had it for years. I am considering buying a 220 V. one. Thanks for the video.

Nice video. Great to see you review this tool. I have watched other reviews of this welder on KZbin. I am going to get one for a project I have. There is a learning curve for this tool. Most recommend you purchase 240 volt version. All say it is heavy and awkward at times. I respect your opinion. 👍👍
@QuickSpeedShop2 ай бұрын
It's definitely heavy and awkward. I might make some kind of bigger handle to make it easier to hold on to.
@funone87162 ай бұрын
You actually want to adjust the toggle bolt/nut so you can lock the handle all the way down like a toggle clamp. It needs to clamp the 2 pieces together fairly tightly for best results. Then hit the switch for a second-ish (longer for thicker metal, shorter for thinner metal). I screwed up and bought the 120v model several years ago, not as powerful. Dang.

Try to take apart your test weld card to see what kind of penetration it has

I tried to separate them after the video, but it was welded together too tight.

I haven't used a spot welder since i was in 16 High school in 1996. Took Metal Tech and made a Toolbox and a funnel using a big Floor unit 😂 good times. Makes me want one, wonder how good or the difference between the 110v and the 220v is far as performance? Because my garage cant use a 220v sadly.
@QuickSpeedShop2 ай бұрын
The 110v just does a little less thickness. You'll probably need a 20A circuit to run that one.

Make a harness for the welder and use that engine hoist to hold the welder. Will save you from developing Popeye arms. LOL

If I needed one forever I'd get a better quality unit. Many people are interested in HF Tool reviews so that's what this is.

@@QuickSpeedShop I've bought a lot of tools from Harbor freight and am very satisfied with 99% of them. I started welding in the mid 60's I have several welders theTitanium 125 is very impressive. Only two things I don't like about it is it won't take a 10# spool and the mig gun is not comfortable to use. Bending the tube and moving the switch to be operated with the thumb was a big improvement. I prefer it over my Lincoln 100 hands down. I also made a setup for it so I could use a 10lb spool,it works fine but it is not very convenient. I went ahead and bought a Titanium 140 for bigger outdoor projects. I have a 170 I tried with gas and I haven't been able to get the bead to suit me. It doesn't want to flow out like it should. My nephew has the Titanium 140 multi-process and has trouble with it with gas too. I haven't tried flux core in my 170 but plan to. I have the Titanium 200 MP it works great with flux core bu I haven't tried mig welding with it. I have several other welders as well Miller's and Lincoln's also a 600 amp Hobart.
