This video has gotten much more attention than I ever thought it would, so I feel like it's worth mentioning that yes, this same setup did free my magnet from the bridge. It was a 1200lb single sided magnet that was stuck firmly flat to the solid steel bridge. By anchoring the come a long to a tree and pulling at an angle, it came off. I returned the come a long shortly thereafter, seeing as freeing the magnet was my sole purpose for the purchase, so I still can't speak to the tool's longevity. However it did this test and the magnet freeing with no issues, aside from the pall not ratcheting itself during tension release (it did that during the magnet freeing, too). I still recommend the tool as long as that fault isn't a deal breaker.

I bought one a year ago. Worked for about 3 minutes before it failed. Returned the same day...

To engage and disengage you need to slide a spring. That is a pain as I could not slide it with my finger which is now located down in the mechanism. My 40 year old winch has a lever. How far we have come in 4 decades??? DO NOT WINCH IT UP TIGHT AS SHOWN!!!!!!

Pretty solid steel? The ratchet wheels and drive pawls are made of several layers of thin sheet metal.
