Harbor freight has some stuff with pretty good quality. I just HATE buying stuff made in China, however, it's become increasingly difficult to avoid.
@post10Vlogs
@post10Vlogs Жыл бұрын
I usually buy the Chinese stuff because I can't afford the better stuff but it depends what it is. If it's a complicated tool I won't cheap out, things like screwdrivers and drill bits from Harbor Freight don't last at all have to get the ones from Home Depot, for example I bought a unibit for drilling metal and it cost me $15 at Harbor Freight and was broken in 10 minutes, bought a real unibit from Home Depot that cost $80 and after hundreds of holes it still good

@@post10Vlogs Exactly!! Even harbor freight sand paper isn't worth buying. The money you save gets eaten up with how much you burn thru. Might as well pay the extra $ upfront and buy the 3M stuff.

I've found that even just chopping a little bit of bark off a log it's enough to start the log burning rather than trying to light it with bark all the way round.👍❤️💛💚

I bought one after seeing it on your channel a while ago. It's great! It will shoot seasoned hardwood. I have cardboard stacked behind it to stop it. Otherwise it gets pretty rowdy. I used a 4x4 to help split something short. Unfortunately, I bent one of the little guide ear things. Will have to heat with a torch and bend it back

Post10, your shed/garage looks awesome! You really cleared our so much more stuff. I agree with the 1 year rule too. Those of us that have tendencies to hoard need to remember it's better to clear clutter than hang onto all this stuff and never use it. Have you thought about building a wood shed to store all your fire wood? I've seen a few homesteading channels build 3 sided wood sheds this year leaving about 1 inch between all the side wall boards to keep air circulating. They also built them with overhanging roofs to keep as much weather off them. Just a thought. Always great to see another video from you. Be well, stay safe and God bless. 😊🙏🏻🌻❤️

You will probably right I should build some more log sheds I think I could make them out of pallets and put roofing shingles on top. Or build like a carport
@justjan147
@justjan147 Жыл бұрын
@@post10Vlogs I think you could use those metal roofing panels if you don't want the expense or hassle of shingles. These homesteaders did their wood sheds with an elevated floor and did that 1 inch gap between the floorboards and the sideboards. The boards in the back of the shed didn't have the gap. They're in Oklahoma and here in the Midwest we can have insane southerly winds in the warmer months and wicked northerly winds when it's cold. They made the structures face south so when the north winds blow they don't make it inside the structure and bring with it the rain, snow or sleet. Oh and they pitched the roof so it slanted toward the back. I just wanted to share those details with you. I'm really enjoying your content. I wasn't sure I would enjoy it in the winter months when you can't clear culverts and other water places with blockages. Thanks for taking the time to get out and camp or clear out clutter or chase storms and sharing those videos with us. I also loved the videos you did when you traveled out west. I'd like to see you do some traveling in our Midwest states. We have lots to offer too. Take care!

One of the handiest tools to have with a wood stove is an ash sifting tool. The one I have is like a mesh fryer basket. When the fire has burned down, you push the ashes/embers to one side, then you scoop up the ashes/embers into the basket and sift them over the empty side of the stove, leaving you a pile of ash and a basket with all the glowing embers.

I can't wait for your next time lapse film. (you know me lol). Loved your video Post. I was thinking about how much of a conservationist you have become with the trees and animals. You should try out to be a scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts. I think you'd be a good one and be able to pass your knowledge down to youngsters that could benefit from it later in life. My favorite thing is how much you care for the environment by picking up litter that low class individuals throw out onto the side of the road and in the woods.

Putting a tarp over your split, dry wood will trap rising moisture from the ground and create a humidity problem under the tarp your wood will continue to have a higher moisture content. Pick up some free pallets from around town to pile your split wood on before you cover it with tarps and allow for air to pass under and through the pallets.

I think they were just being petty that I missed their call.. probably wasn’t the best workplace, I’ve been in toxic workplaces like that where someone wants a job and they’ll reject them or fire someone for no reason other than it makes them feel powerful.
