I started watching this homie when he was on the 883. I think I found Blockhead when he was on like his 3rd or 4th upload. Been cruising ever since. And oh yeah, my 2007 600 VLX Shadow will still shit on basically everything on the road nowadays. Ride on BHeads

I’ve been waiting to get one of these cabinets and turn it into a vapor blaster. It basically adds water to the system and makes raw aluminum shine better than stock.

I've heard good things about vapor blasting! It’s on my list to try!

Glass bead will pack.I have a larger unit,ended up buying a vibrating motor and mounted by the pick up tube.Most places that sell bigger units will have them.

I ordered a full home gym if you want to come over and help assemble. I plan to start with several beers and slightly glancing at the directions; that makes for a great day in the garage!

There are several different types of blasting materials, many are not aware of this. I suggest a sandblast material chart, which shows the proper material to use during a project. John stated he was using a glass bead, which equates and equals to a fine finish process; Just like sandpaper you go through certain grit to achieve said results. Certain parts may need several passes, with different material blasts to achieve said perfect results. It can seem like a major can of worms, but I believe Block is on the right track and learning the do's and don'ts in creating a smooth process. Hope this helps on your journey.

I hope you have good luck with it. I built one for a shop I used to work at and we were not impressed. The hose, gun, fitting, seals and plexiglass left a lot to be desired.

Yeah it’s definitely been a learning experience, haha

The powder coating you did looks great, I know it can be challenging to match; especially using alternate lighter spectrum colors. My thoughts are to make sure each part is at the same exact temperature entering the oven and also share the same cook/bake time, that will create the almost perfect results. Granted all parts are prepped in the same fashion. I'm just throwing it out there, coming from past experiences powder coating parts at home.

Those siphon hoses always get plugged. You can get a metering valve to put on the bottom and it will work much better. Also, make sure your vaccum isn't throwing that dust into the air in your shop!
@forsaken17767 сағат бұрын
you could put a tarp on the floor under it and collect it for reused?

As an experienced blaster, you DO NOT want a switch that stays on. That can create a VERY dangerous situation.

I know it's too late but... Some silicone caulk in the seams of the HF blast cabinet will help. They leak bad.

People always make it look so easy, but for sure gonna take awhile to get through five 17" rims, haha. Do you use a respirator or anything? I've found with some of the media, I probably should, like fine coal slag.
@Max_The_Broken5 сағат бұрын
As someone else mentioned, silicone the hopper to fix issue with media leaking out. other mods i recommened, 1: run a air regulator/filter (i run mine at 35 psi with good results) 2: cyclone dust seperator, it plugs into the left side port and keeps dust down (just make sure to remove cover on the back vent or gloves will inflate from negative pressure inside the cabinet). menards and harbor freight have options that are very simple. 3: not a mod but something i did was load less blasting media as it seems having too much just makes feeding harder on the siphon tube (youtube deleted my first comment for some reason, most likely for linking harbor freight cyclone dust Seperator as it's a very cheap option compared to everyone else)
@BlockheadMoto3 сағат бұрын
The hopper was siliconed, did the corners of the cabinet as well! I actually just bought a regulator and found that our shop system is losing a lot of pressure while in use. What media are you using at 35psi with good results? Less blast media is something I found that works for sure! Originally did nearly 40 lbs but cut that in half and seems to flow better. I'll be sure to checkout the HF dust separator!

I'm glad you posted this. My son was going to buy one now we are not. Will be looking for a used one from a shop that is closing. We believe that will be a better investment.

You can find them on Facebook marketplace all day! Only reason I bought this one new is b/c I wanted to know how it all went together and worked. Now that I understand it, I'd totally recommend buying a used one of FB marketplace. Have some listed around me locally for $70, well worth it for the time saved assembling!
