Another great video. Keep it up. To make good quality spot welds you have to make the welding electrodes to be coaxial when the welding materials are between the electrodes & the proper clamping force is applied. Sparking is not normal and could be dangerous ( proper protective gear is a must ). The factory supplied upper tong end has to be bent more to get coaxial with the bottom end. It is obvious that for every thickness of welded materials you will have to use different diameter / length welding tips & set up their alignment individually. A timer is also a must for good quality spot welds. There are timers with welding time compensation. These are monitoring the welding current and adjusting the welding time accordingly.

This could revolutionize Hubs, Blades, and Tin characters for Whirly Gigs...no more wood blades

"make sure to read the enclosed instructions" You said it yourself lol. please- before you use if again coat the threads with the white dielectric grease in the small sachets on replaceable Copper welding tips. Or you will not be able to replace them when the time comes. the heat soon galls them up. Great vid- I watch lots of your stuff. Im currently making a spot welder from scratch that uses my arc welder as a power supply. the device will be 1/2 size and really light so that I can get into weird spots on my restoration projects.

they have a 220v one as well, wonder if it would do the thicker stuff

yea probably this one might if you hold it like 30 seconds.

How well does it work on thin stuff like aluminum beer cans, aluminium foil, gum wrappers?

Seems to work pretty good for what it is and the price!

Should you wear tinted welder glasses with one of these? My manual says to, but didn't know if you think this is correct

You need to keep the copper off of your table. Put a piece of plywood on your surface so you don't electrify the whole table. It might help with your weld too.

By- the way... you can even lick the metal while you are welding - no way will you ever get a shock off one of these . The actual voltage is about 3v- Its massive amps , but bugger all volts.

Not only that but the output is isolated so it's inherently safe
