Harbor Freight Welders Trash?!? Vulcan Omnipro 220 Stick Welding

Here I am reviewing the Vulcan Omnipro 220 from Harbor Freight. Is it a good value or is it not? Stick around and find out. I used KT Welding 6011 in 1/8 and 3/32, and Hobart 7024

i got mine in november 2020, great machine. not single problem to mention. i was nervous at first, thinking i shouldve spent the extra money and got the miller or something. well here i am 2 years later and still mig welding everything i need. as for the switch i have zero issues with the unit i hace. you could probably call harbor freight and tell them whats going on and theyll probably send you a new switch

anyone who says they are trash knows absolutely NOTHING about welding. I have been a professional welder for 20 years. I have worked in production welding, millwright, structural etc. I now work for myself and have been in business for 9 years and growing every year. I have an omnipro 220 on my truck for indoor jobs, I use it daily and have had absolutely ZERO issues period. So yes they are perfectly fine for pro use. dont listen to the morons who only pick up a mig gun in a production job and call themself a welder. a trained monkey can run a mig gun, they know nothing.

I thought long and hard about buying one of these machines and ultimately decided to buy the Miller. The deciding factor is that the Harbor Freight machine is disposable. There are no parts and no one I could find works on them. $1150 is simply too much for me to pay for a disposable machine.

The switch is fine. Don’t shut it off slowly like you were and it doesn’t arc at all. It’s not an issue. As someone already stated, a light switch can go the same thing

You know that Vulcan emblem on front pops down to reveal a small cubby area. I have had mine for 19 months with no issues. I have ran about 30lbs of wire and 15lbs of rods. No complaints so far. I did find the 1/8 7018 setting was a little hot on one setting.

I can’t run 6010 on mine it runs then shuts off and so on and I also can’t select 5/32 if I wanted to

Any ideas on why it won't run 6010?

Yeah, I'm not satisfied with my 6010 welding. Turn it up high enough to stop it from flaming out and it blows through the metal.

It's an inverter welder. It won't run 6010.

If you turn a switch off slow it will arc, it has contacts . You can do the same thing with a light switch. Just turn it off. You can make a breaker in an electrical panel arc as well. Nothing wrong with switch.

Did you ever get the chance to put the clamp meter on the leads when mig welding? I've always been curious to know if these could actually put out 220 amps.

That machine is real good the 220 and the 205 is there a good machines I’ve seen lots of videos of people not complaining about the machine machine people have machines for 18 months or for a very long time and the machine still runs good Lincoln electric sued Harbor freight because they they stole their idea from the 215 multi processor A lot of people are buying the 205 because it’s way better The machines gonna last you for a very long time and I’m gonna get one because they are very good

Any Milwaukee deals yet? Lol I just hooked the argon to mine but haven't ran a bead yet. What psi do you run on your regulator. Nobody iv watched has mentioned it.

For tig I go twice the number of the cup size. For mig I go about 15-20 depends how windy it'll get.
