Reason for the clamps having the nut is because its 3/16 plate. That torqueing on the plate from clamping can warp the holes and making fitting worse over time. You need thicker plate for the drop in clamps to work right and not wear out either the clamp or the plate. If you wanted too you could get another 3/16 plate and have transfer holes cut using the tables holes as markings and place that under it. Maybe with spacers like a washer thickness to make the torque load more evened out as if it was a 1/2 inch or thicker plate as only the top and the bottom of the plate really touch and lock. Shouldn't be any welding on it just bolting it back down with maybe longer bolts and the 2 plates with full length spacers all around the frame. Drilling a bunch of holes is a pain but already having one plate done and used as a guide will help a lot and drilling though 3/16 is a lot less wearing and time consuming than drilling through 1/2 plate or even 3/8 plate.

Do you think putting some straps from the legs to center of table would help with sag?
@J.C.SMITHBEYONDTHESHOP5 ай бұрын
Maybe. There is a frame under the top that could be thicker to help.

@@J.C.SMITHBEYONDTHESHOP well after i commented that you mentioned how it had a tray I bet straps would help keep legs in and together if you didn’t want to put the tray back on it for space

I bought a cheap folding table, and wow. For me just getting off the garage floor was a BIG change. Ground clamping to the table was a big plus. After less then a year, I'm now upgrading to a HF table. IMO, once you figure this all out the welding project multiply faster as the ease and quality improve.

These tables are awesome for what you get. I got some locking casters and have used the hell out of it. It doubles as an extra table when doing other projects too. There’s a could videos where guys modded theirs. Will probably do something similar soon.

I have two of the same tables that came from norther tool. I replaced the feet on the bottom of the legs with locking swivel casters. I mainly only tig weld sheets metal so they are sturdy enough for my use. My only complaint is that when not in use they become a catch-all for junk and stray tools.

Thanks for the review. I was considering this table I don't have the money to buy an expensive table and I don't do precision work so I believe this will work well for me also!

Might be a good idea to double the thickness. Which means more mag drill videos! Clamp it to the table!

Perfect great video. Just this morning saw your video about splitting your interests with a second channel for reviews of products etc and subbed. Not really a HF fan but this may suffice for the future. So again thanks. Keep up the great videos

Great to get your views on tools. HF is usually pretty good enough for one time use or to try out something before you buy a higher quality item.
