Thanks for the very interesting video. I used to take this route a few times a month, although most often on HA’s single engine Otter. The beauty of the Otter is that they’re single-pilot ops, and so a passenger would always be able to sit in the co-pilot seat and put on a pair of headphones to listen to all of the comms. Always breathtaking scenery, sometimes at only 400 feet on low ceiling days. On those days we’d have to climb just to cross over one or more of the Gulf islands.

I flew from Vancouver to Victoria in a Harbour Air De Havilland DHC - 3 Single Otter in 2010. Wondeful experience and I have video of the flight to treasure.

It reminds me of the old flying boats from Foynes on the River Shannon in the West of Ireland near the present day Shannon Airport - they used to have a similar plane flying on the River Thames in London (near London City Airport) up to Scotland (Glasgow or Edinburgh) and they might start something similar on the River Mersey from Liverpool to Dublin

Why the holding hands when the depart?

to ensure the captain can focus on keeping the aircraft on step along the water and reduce the workload + dodge boats on the water, this allows the copilot to more accurately set takeoff power. engine management is much different than your typical piston plane. :)

Please, get off the Garmin! You're flying through one of the best inland waterways in the world. WTF!!

This is an airline. There are procedures that are used at all times. Just like the first officer does not have to cover the the pilots hand during takeoff, but they do it anyways.. Sorry, but your comment is foolish.
