@DebuBarveArtBlog - so long as you don't thin the mixture out too much with fluids (so that it would not hold an edge), that should work pretty much the same way as the High-Solid Gel does in this video. There will be plenty of binders in that mixture. You just want to make sure you press some gel into the surface to prevent hold-out. I hope this helps. Feel free to call or e-mail tech support if you have additional questions.

can anybody recommend any alternative for the gac 200/400 used in this video to seal the tape? these are not available in my country so i was thinking maybe some other medium could work? thanks!

@jessemkahn Thank you - we appreciate the feedback! We should have more coming soon, so keep an eye out.

Is it better to do this technique - especially the thick application technique - with the substrate in a horizontal position?

Around 3:18-3:20 you can see the tan layer peel as you lift the tape. That is what seems to happen to me quite often when I allow the paint to dry before peeling the tape up. Is there a recommended method of preventing this?

Incredible Video!!! What tape would you recommend
@GoldenPaints3 жыл бұрын
Hello Natiee, any brand name painters' tape should work well. We can't endorse a particular brand - but our experience has been that tape made specifically for paint masking (usually green or blue colored) works better than cheaper generic (beige) tape.

can you use white paint on the tape edges instead of gesso?

I would like to know if it is possible to achieve textural hardedge work by mixing High Solid gloss Gel + Coarse Pumice Gel along with heavy body/liquid acrylic colors? Do I need to use any additional binder or some sort of precaution to take while mixing two Gels?
@TheMikeTownsend11 жыл бұрын
You might be able to use some Gesso with the paint to help reduce the stretching of the paint film. Matte paints tend to work better because of the extra solids. There are not a lot of hard acrylic mediums for artists to find though so the GAC 200 is unique in the art store.

fyi: i have experimented with mat medium from other brands, but this seems to make the paint film more elastic and slows drying so many times the paint would just peel off the edges. please help thanks

i think what's peeling up in the section you mention is actually paint that was on top of that other strip of green tape. it doesn't peel up on the canvas.

Can you substitute a smaller ratio of gac100 for the gac500?
@GoldenPaints3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can replace GAC500 with GAC100 for most applications - in this demonstration you could also replace GAC500 with Matte or Fluid Matte Medium or Gloss Medium (depending on the sheen/result you want - although anything should be minimally visible)
@sararuch58123 жыл бұрын
@@GoldenPaints how similar to gac500 is airbrush medium? Are they interchangeable for certain uses? Is one more fluid than the other?
@GoldenPaints14 жыл бұрын
@shysterlicious It would definitely be easier for some projects, but one can definitely do these techniques in the vertical - you would just need to make sure not to use anything that was fluid too thickly in order to avoid sags and runs.

It isn't frog, I think it's just 3M painter's tape. This video was produced by our Technical Support team, they can give you all the product and application detail about it.

Biker- I've scrubbed over that portion of the video and honestly don't see the peeling you describe. However, call our Technical Support team and ask for Mike or Uly. They worked on this video and could tell you if they had that issue and (if so) how to prevent it. I can assure you that the work used for illustration was not doctored and we did not edit out anything related to the results.

what such poor quality video format for such a huge company ? kind of poor presentation imo
@GoldenPaints3 жыл бұрын
Hello MGA, take a look at the video date, it's almost 11 years old. That was decent video quality for the time. We're working to update the older video content on our channel, but (contrary to your impression) we're not a huge company, so it's going to take a little while. Your patience is appreciated.
