We have 90,000 Filipinos living in Washington State. Seattle was the closest port to The Philippines when the Philippines became a US Territory in 1902. The US Navy bases here have also contributed more Filipinos immigrating here. There is a huge Filipino grocery store in Tukwila in the Southcenter Mall called “Seafood City Supermarket”. The local grocery stores stock up on Asian foods and sell large bags of rice as well.

I got married to an enlisted air force at 18 y/o nung 2nd year college ako. I came in the USA when I was 21. I enrolled at the university 3 months after we settled and I drove 45 minutes each way everyday and worked part time as a waitress in a cafeteria at night until I graduated and received my diploma. That was 45 years ago, I retired as tax collector and investigator from the State of CA. Advised ko lang, be independent and take initiative to make things happen on your own.
