I read the book so many years ago when I was a sophmore in high school, confused about relationships and family and everything else. A lot of the words still come back to me on hard days, when loving and being loved is hard. It is really such a powerful book, and hit on a lot of key issues for high school kids. I reccommend it to everyone. And I am so glad to see that so many are still enjoying the book and this song.

I ha the pleasure of dancing to this song when Bob Franke performed it at the Flying Cloud Folk Club in Toronto. Not the kind of song you might imagine dancing to, but it was such a meaningful song to my friend and I that we danced to it in the back of the room. I wish the motor noise wasn't in this recording, but I love the geese (?) at the end. One of my favorite songs of all time. Thanks, Bob.

wow....hearing the song...it's amazing...i thought i loved the book but i closed my eyes and listen and wow...i was so touched...i think it's sad that marisol could never love john back in that way but really she did open his life up and brighten it....it just took him a while to understand..........the initial mystery

Came to this song by way of June Tabor's cover....what a lovely version she does...but there is a purity in hearing the songwriter sing this...and what a talented man he is, in the midst of background noise of motors and geese, he still sounds amazing!

My boyfriend suggested the book to me, and right afterward, I had to find and listen to this song. Truly touching and relate-able for people of any age, but especially teens and 20's. ^_^

I read the book when I was around 12. I am now 15 and i still know every word. At first I thought it was a poem and memorized it like that, but now obviously i realize its a song. the lyrics are absolutely brilliant. the most beautiful thing i've ever heard.

I think that is one of the only books that can make me cry... for those who want a sequel, there is the companion, Love and Lies, and I think it takes place a little after Gio and Marisol part ways. No, but the song sent me to the book. Bob told us about it in his songwriting class (lucky me, I got to take a songwriting class with Bob!). I loved the book, and insisted my teenage son read it, but he didn't like it. He even thought he was too young for it and wondered why I wanted him to read it.
