His physical stunts were the greatest. I hope that some younger people see these types of films. Such great performers shouldn’t be forgotten.

Not very young (37) but still, I grew up in the age of CGI. I have just discovered Keaton thanks to YT and I think his stunts are awesome 🙂

Thanx muchly, Silver Screen! Another great treasure with our darling Buster! 😊 👍 💕 This was great.

I hope that was the whole movie. I've seen other versions that have been edited. As usual, first class hilarity.

This is what I know. It is not 100% complete, maybe 90%. Some scenes are damaged beyond repair, mostly nearing the end. I'm afraid that those parts are lost. The majority of the work negatives and the distribution copies of the 40's and 50's were destroyed once the rights lapsed into the public domain. The archived originals are damaged - lost. This copy comes from an old 2" Ampex video tape - a recorded transcription from a 16mm film used for TV / Video Distribution - done in the early 70's using a telecine. The reel was an edited composite of diverse surviving positives.

@@silverscreenfilmotheque9071 Wow, I'm impressed! Someone that has researched the provenance of these works! Most people just rip a copy of a film, and I am indebted to them as well. But kudos to you for sharing the history of this nascent art work!

Lots of love from India. Such an amazing mix pf pathos and humor. This is what our film maker, actor and director Raj Kapoor learned from the West.

I have a book on Buster Keaton movies and it said the ending to this comedy was lost, but described how it was supposed to end. They must have found some footage from another source that had the ending and included it here. In the book it said that ending when he came out of the hole with the Chinese family got the biggest laugh in the whole film.

Buster invented and also performed ALL of those gags and stunts himself without getting himself killed. Amazing man, and brilliant. Sadly, in real life he was also tragic.

Another amazing stunt. Breaking it down frame by frame. You can see water splash when he hits. Fake bricks over water. Still would have hurt, I'm sure. Very believable!

It was not surprising since he had been doing stunt work from childhood and much of his movies included strenuous stunt work. I would not be surprised if under the tramp's baggy clothes, Charlie Chaplin was just as well built.

"Big Joe" Roberts, a long time friend of Buster's father and a member of their vaudeville troupe. He was 1.91 mts tall, contrasting with Buster's 1.68 mts.

채플린 보다 이 사람이 더 잘하고 더 재밋네..왜 인기를 못 얻었을까?
@SK-xv1in27 күн бұрын
