The bad thing about the final battle about Ultimate Armor X and Awakened Zero is that in order to try again the fight, you must beat Double and Iris (Legacy Collection 1) or ???? and ???? (Legacy Collection 2) to retry the fight, because it CANNOT be played on training, on the plus side, that fight doesn't count for the scores. Anyway, good job on (almost) beating the final stage on hard.

That's true, BTW, the Ultimate Armor X and Awakened Zero is still the same secret battle in Vol. 2. I haven't completed the challenges in hard mode yet, but there's a video in KZbin with the secret battle beaten.

Wfreestyle That is true, cause you can tank most attacks in normal mode and destroy him(and Ive seen it done). But you want to still be strategic cause you’ll be hitting Iris too and that spawns her little probe bombs. And if shes damaged enough, the crystal will make it rough. The worst part is a charged cyclone can be interrupted so if you try hitting double from a distance and lets say a bomb, iris or a piece of double hits X, thats a wasted attack. Not to discourage the use in normal mode, its just if you’re not careful, things could get hectic. I might try to tank it just to see if its easier or harder.

My guess is that this takes place between X6 and X7, given the complete absence of Mavericks from X7 and 8 or even a mention of Axl. It's probably some kind of Xtreme type of thing where the Mavericks were brought back (my guess is thanks to Dynamo) and now X has to go beat them again. In regards to the last fight with X and Zero, my assumption is that it's a trial from Dr. Light to overcome X's own weaknesses and to test his capabilities.

Double and Iris were such a nightmare even on normal. I'd even forgotten that Colonel pops up to help her after you down Double. I spent a few days just grinding that fight, and watching it now, I'm not even sure how I got it done. I've never even gotten to X and Zero, and despite my best efforts, I don't think I ever will. X Challenge was such a nice gesture tho, CAPCOM didn't really have to add an extra mode and yet they did. Yeah, it may not be so fleshed out, but its concept and challenge borders on sadistic, something that any proper Megaman fan can't help but to get excited for.

Litsen up. There's something you should know about the X and Zero fight that nobody else has found yet. You could be the one to find it first. SPOILERS A guy posted video of defeating X and Zero. He defeated X first and Zero turned into Black Zero.... So what happens if you defeat Zero first? Nobody knows that. One more thing... I don't know if this was because he did it on volume 2.... but in his fights, X would Change to Fourth Armor, Shadow Armor and Falcon Armor and use Falcon and Shadow Armor's Giga Attacks.

X gains more special weapons when Zero is defeated. Some of the special weapons that I heard he gets are Yammark Option, Ray Arrow and Guard Shell.

I wonder what happens if you somehow manage to beat Iris first. Who comes in to fight along with Double? What is your decision process when you decide to go for the wall or linger in the center of the room when dealing with Double?

I will linger on the wall if Iris shoots and Double is on the other side. If Double is under you and Iris shoots, then you should jump away from the wall and hover. Otherwise Double will hit you with his slash.^^ However, there are many situations, I am sure you can see them all in my video!^^

I'm currently trying to beat 9-3 on Normal. I think I'll unlock Practice Mode first though. Without practice, this one is pretty brutal... Yesterday evening I beat Easy mode and unlocked Practice Mode. Easy Mode is so easy. You can tank everything no problem and still beat the stages. With the only exception of Stingray + Whale. The cheap deaths are strong with this one. So at least now I can practice on Normal 9-3. I'm getting better at setting up the "chorepgraphy" of the fight but there are still bad situations. Like, I'm still not used to his "blue discs" attack or firing my shots at the correct moments to hit him and not Iris. But I'm getting there.

Against X5 and X6 bosses half charge has better dps. Of course, for that you need to shoot them more frequently, but for battles were you need o take out one of the bosses as fast as possible it is pretty useful.
