I struggled so much with algebra in high school. My teachers were good, but just not for me. Your videos make these equations so understandable. Thank you

The only problem I have with math is I have trouble doing it in my head when more difficult than multiplication
@Dave2kool4skool Жыл бұрын
People can get confused with the denominator being right next to the expression being multiplied. Would be more clear if rewritten showing 3 underneath so people do not guess 1 as the answer
@legitgoodbruh8684 Жыл бұрын
no I disagree. think of it like a calculator, if it was all in the denominator there should be a parentheses around the 3 and to the right of the 2.

Implicit operations come before explicit operations. 27 --------------- 3(1+2)^2 = 27/27 = 1

isn't multiplication before division? why is it not 1
@aidanpatten8968 Жыл бұрын
Multiplication is normally said before division, but multiplication and division occur in the same step, so do addition and subtraction. It just goes from left to right

yes, if you have a B.S. degree, and no if BODMAS was your last required math class lol 😅

@@aidanpatten8968 when we were taught the order of operations in the 80's there was never any mention of this left to right multiplication division. It was always multiplication and then division... It really doesn't matter though since I don't think anyone's ever come up with a practical application for this.

MD and AS are treated as a single step, unlike P and E. MD and AS go left to right in the equation always
@Derbittguy Жыл бұрын
@@adus2821 when did this change though? Because everyone I know from my generation was not taught that way.

81 is correct. If you want the answer to be 1, you should write out the equation as x = 27/(3(1+2)^2)

More like you were taught wrong. It's PE(MD)(AS); parenthesis, exponents, multiplication and division in whichever order they appear, addition and subtraction in whatever order they appear.

yes. wrong. The 5th grade stubborn BODMAS people telling the STEM BS degree what's up. multiplication first
