Its not just e bikes. I had a 2009 specialized tarmac that was a seatpost clamp away from being ridden. That part is out of production, and without someone willing to custom fabricate a solution, that bike is a paperweight. Proprietary headsets and seatpost clamps need to be illegal

Oh, what do you suggest standardization? I believe you are. Let me tell you the meaning of that. standardization is stagnation. I like a varity of different types of all consumer goods. Imagine for a moment all Ebikes being standardized what would you have to choose from ? Nothing because they would all be the same.

* This is why I assembled My own e-bike. First i chosed a mountain bike that fits Me. Next I ordered a 750/1500 watt rear wheel kit. Then a 52 volt-20 amp. Battery and all the other parts from Amazon. By e-bike 3 years old so far I've only had to replace inner tubes. If the motor ever breaks or the battery ever dies completely I can order another from Amazon. Mac k
