We are custodians to these cars. With good fortune, they may outlast us, with owners just as passionate or more so. So don’t let your tenure be the low point in the vehicle’s life. If anything, strive to make it better than when you attained it.

Well said. I think this custodian idea is big part of the reason why I’ve kept my S14 all these years. I’d rather it sit in my garage with the unfinished Sr swap I started in 07’, than sell it only to have it turn into a tuner shitbox. That and I’m afraid of what I’ll drain from the fuel tank. Finally a channel calls out senselessly ripping out the the interiors for "weight reduction" when the back seats and panels weigh like 8 lbs max
@nunyabusiness896
@nunyabusiness896 Жыл бұрын
Seriously. The only valid reason to pull that out is A) it's already trashed and you don't want to spend money replacing it B) the car will be so heavily modded or track-only that it's worth it for the easier access to wiring/fuel pump/etc. I remember when fkn rtards were buying brand new FR-Ss and BRZs for 100% road use and immediately spending money on "rear seat delete" kits that maybe saved like 25 lbs on a good day. Good lord what a waste of time and money. On top of it they would try to get super small lawn and garden batteries to save another 5-10 lbs, why? So you can be stranded when your 3 starts that tiny battery can handle ran out?
@robbalinski1606
@robbalinski1606 10 ай бұрын
Pulling out the back interior on a 1g dsm saves about 160lb's (back seats are heavy), but makes it super loud and annoying and why for a dd or street car, pointless.

You put what I dislike into words best. I feel like a fraud when I park next to my friends’ modified cars in the school parking lot, cause I am a car guy, yet my car is stock. Half the reason I consider modding it is because I want to fit in and have something that is modified as some kind of proof of being a car guy.

Honestly if you feel like you need to modify your car I would do a head unit and speaker upgrade. It’s probably the best modification for your driving enjoyment, and it doesn’t absolutely fuck the car. If you go on Crutchfield you can put your make and model in and they will tell you what speakers fit, what wiring harness adapters you’ll need, and what trim panel you’ll need to make the new head unit look clean. For head unit and speakers I’d go with the cheapest option from a reputable brand. I bought Sonys cheapest double din head unit with pioneers cheapest speakers. The combo while not the best is really good, and more importantly nothing has broken in the 6 years of use
@NineS5

@@rl1275 I was going to put higher trim model parts on my car such as bumpers, wheels, tac, optional extras etc... but then came to my senses and decided to keep it as a base model like it was made to be. There's definitely some sort of weird self sabotage/dopamine fix aspect to these mods as well. People will call a car that follows all of these guidelines "clean", but don't follow the same guidelines themselves. Installing a ton of cheap small mods may get your dopamine fix in the short term, but in the long term nothing beats having a car that stands out at the show and sparks genuine conversations like in the Camry Coupe example.

Most of this stuff I can actually understand because its just cosmetic and people like different things, but out of everything id say stripping and pulling out the entire interior, is the worst offence by far, cuz 90% of the time it isnt going to help the performance at all, like most of the people who do it in the first place, dont even have a single performance mod in when they do it, so you made your already stock speed car, 0.00001% faster... nice?

I feel like you should have led the video with your point at 7:50. It is especially important for those tiktok troglodytes buying piece of shit project cars off Facebook marketplace. A dildo shift knob isn't going to fix your leaky brake master and a stupid heart shaped subway train handle isn't going to get your power steering working. If I buy something and intend on modding it I will adhere to this checklist 100% of the time. 1. Tires and brakes 2. Any steering or suspension components necessary to safety. 3. Suspension and bushings only if it needs to be replaced or refreshed 4. Any required preventative maintenance or modernization to ensure longevity. Once this is done, I look at wheels, any performance stuff, or electronics. Only once I ensure the car can start, steer and stop, then I look at improving it. Man I try to tell this to friends getting into drifting for the first time. Just go drive it, as it is, and when the time comes, change the things that will help better the shortcomings. And for those that do it, it really shows, they'll be out tearing it up in a nearly stock miata, driving circles around others who overbuilt their car from the get go. Between that and not driving beyond their own skill levels you can get way more laps in and only put your car at minimal risk.

Crappy coilovers, fart can n1 catback, k&n hot air intake, solid and poly bushings, fat sway bars and strut braces. It went from a sporty daily driver to something thst was rattly and rough and my partner hated being a passenger in it. Im 30 now and the only mods I'll touch now are oem+ or reliability mods and maybe a tasteful and non raspy exhaust system. My 370z basically has a catback and reliability mods such as replacing a plastic heater hose union with an alloy one with a bleeder, an oil pressure gauge to keep an eye on the oil gallery gasket, a diff brace and a steel engine undertay with a service panel so I only have to take out 2 bolts to access the oil filter and drain plug rather than remove 10 screws and like 5 plastic clips. Other than that I change all the fluids and filters on time if not early and keep it clean. Much more enjoyable to drive and if I ever want to sell it it will be a lot easier to sell.

But my treat to myself after all that is done is having fun with extras and just pushing myself to do things I've never done. Is it always going to amazing or super tasteful? Of course not, but it's experience and I've learned a TON of decal/mechanical/detail/paint work doing all this stuff as opposed to just keeping it stock. Gotta start somewhere.

I am guilty of putting on a big rear view mirror when I was in high school on my vw golf 🤣 don't have either anymore but at the time thought it was cool lol. When looking back found it to be more of a distraction than helpful. We all do something dumb to our cars growing up but eventually learn and aquire taste at least hopefully

My 2011 mustang GT looks stock from the outside but underneath the hood it’s has a supercharger and it pushes 675HP to the wheels. Eventually I’m gonna put bead locks

I hate that my car was given with a Broadway mirror, because when it fell off the oem mirror is peeling and I can't see from it anymore. So I gotta stick with it for now until I get a used one

What’s y’all’s opinion on widebody kits? I bought a 95 s14 that has an origin lab widebody and I wanted the widebody because I can fit wider wheels and tires to better handed the power from the ls I put in it, do you guys think that there is a time and place for widebody kits?

Actually almost bought one of those fake Japanese license plates off eBay that says "BB6" on it to stick on the front of my Prelude. And then I thought about what my reaction would be if I saw one of those in the wild, and that's when I decided I was being cringe. But I always get a laugh at the HDMI stickers you'd see on the Civic Si. I love seeing someone who obviously loves their car but doesn't take themselves too seriously.

I have a skoda fabia 3 estate with the 1.0 mpi engine its not quick only 3 cylinder 75bhp but it handles like a boat really floaty suspension. So i have decided to go for handling i put some prosport coil overs a disc brake conversion on the back so no more drums and swapped out the 14in steels with 17in alloys from a 2000 seat cupra so i have wider tyres . I put a k&n panel filter in it and swapped the front rotors out with some vented factory ones from a vrs octavia . It handles like a dream now

Agreed one sticker maybe on the rear windshield. Make it a tasteful sticker and that’s the most you do

As far as im concerned you get 2 or 3 personal stickers, every other sticker has to be from a parts company you bought from and currently have installed on your vehicle.

Try to do upgrade replacements.. instead of replacing OEM struts & shocks, try to get coilovers. Instead of getting some brand new tires, get some used tires on a set of larger wheels. Buy quality ball joints, tie rod ends, bushings.. I had the tie rod ends replaced on my car in 2015 and they already went to shit. Replaced with some Delphi units. I recently replaced the ball joints and they were the OEM Subaru joints, which is decent for a car from 2001

I think sleepy eyes look good and are fun to do. But you still need to make sure the headlights function as they supposed to. In some cases with sleepy eyes a lens is used to replace the shitty stock barely functional headlight.

One of the worst offenders is putting wacky aftermarket led headlights or tails on a bone stock car. I know a guy with a V6 charger with nothing done to it besides some random purple halo eBay headlights, and who drools over it daily on his Snapchat story

This was the only thing that I didn’t understand. Giant golf cart lookin mirrors look dumb. But broadway ones are awesome. It really helps out when trucks and suvs are behind you. Looking to get some convex blue tinted side mirrors too for the same reason. The convex-ness of the mirror also let’s me see my son in the back of my brz. If you’re reading this feed/net, really appreciate what you guys do ❤ thanks for always keepin it real

Bubble shift nobs are on almost all the jeepneys in the Philippines. It's weird to see one a JDM car where your seat is so low. At least on jeepneys it makes since because the ride height is so much taller

I do like my bigger rear view mirror lol. I didn't think I would but my buddy lent me his extra for a week and I got one. It was less then 20$ and helps me see one of my blind spots a little better. But I don't think it's necessary 😅

The mod that I think is simultaniously bad and good are interior lights and underglow Why? It is a good mod as it is good at increasing visibility at night with underglow and on some cars it looks nice and helps you see your surroundings on a Ute or 4x4. Interior lighting is good for if you need to look for something in the car and helps you see more in the car, some sport cars look better with soft interior lights I also dislike them as you have to wire up everything if you do it yourself and some people make a mess of cables, getting an auto electrician to install it also costs more money, money that could be spent on things like spark plugs upgrade, suspension upgrade, brake upgrade etc

People with limited knowledge and limited budget who really want to do something, anything, to stand out or show others they're in the know...one of the guys. I think most people start out with some level of ricer, just because crap like stickers, bolt on tow hooks, autozone intakes and shitty plasti-dip are cheap and easy for people who don't know anything about how to actually work on stuff yet but desperately have the itch to "mod".

I dont buy stickers for my car, but if the parts come with a sticker, im gonna put it on the car, because why tf not. But i agree with pretty much everything else, especially when it comes to cleaning, i loved that part, nothing makes me happier than seeing a truly clean interior.
