Brett is Holmes, besting even Basil, but Basil will always be Holmes in my mind's eye, it's also inadequate to match them side by side, two completely different eras, both brought endearing qualities to their portrayals

This series will never be matched, I would like to see it tried again. ..Thought I would never see a Holmes I didn’t like, then I saw Will Ferrel movie.Jeez, what a missed opportunity!

Mycroft's attempt at disguise is no match for his brother Sherlock.

Ah, Gray was the only one who could have played Mycroft, opposite Brett. I agree, this episode is rather draggy, and not of the first water, though all the actors were right on--dialog, I suppose. Gray has the ultimate voice and accent. His is the way I'd expect the King to speak.

An unfortunate episode where Jeremy Brett had to recuse himself due to progressive ill health.. Without him the series is quite tedious...

I always been a Holmes fan and yes Jeremy Brett was excellent but there have been so many others who did the role and with great panache!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

The Mazarin Stone was one of the weakest of the canon. Conan Doyle originally wrote it as a one-act play, and then turned it into a short story. The original has a little bit of everything in it, but not much real emotional arc or plot. I can see why the scriptwriters had a bit of fun by casting Mycroft into the role. The Three Garridebs was actually a pretty good story - this adaptation of it is all right as things go.

OrchestrationOnline Yes, the set didn't allow for the necessary 2nd door from the bedroom to the living room either. 😁

Whoever was the d.p. on this went a bit crazy with reflection. I'm surprised the director let him gt away with it. Usually the directors of these serials are fairly conservative.

This is a dispicable, badly shot, and produced "copy" of a great series! The ending in the cemetery is horrible, looks like a film school freshman's work!!
