Duna is surprisingly harder, then rest of the system, tho. Duna mission is a bigger achievement than it seems. On the one hand wings and drag slow you down, but on the other hand wings on Duna tend to have not enough lift to properly fly and screw over landings big time. Parachutes is not powerful enough to do the main job like on Kerbin, Laythe and Eve, so one need engines to slow down, and proper craft control to point engines. So any Duna vessel is already a hybrid craft in its core, combining several landing features to operate correctly. That is effectively halfway to a grand tour vessel! Vacuum of space is just easier.

My first landing on DunA was actually a double accident. First the ship I was supposed to send to my Mün station had way to much deltaV, so I just went to Duna instead, then I thought "wouldn't it be funny if I burned up Jebediah Kerman in the atmosphere," but then he actually managed to slow down enough in the atmosphere and land with RCS. So yeah.

What do you think about trying this with the Outer Planets mod? it adds the equivalent of Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. This would.. likely be terrifyingly difficult and laborous..

If I had time! In the end of the day it takes eternity to fly mission like that. It took 3 days to fly stock system. I am afraid that before I finish with 4-5 ongoing KSP projects it would be end of February ;-) From delta V standpoint vessel can squeeze 6k delta V in Jool orbit. Should be enough to get to Sarnus, Urlum and Neidon. From there it should be matter of gravity assists from moons.

i was expecting a eve ssto ascent but still awesome. why 4 vectors and not one mammoth? Why using the nerva engine with aerospike while using vector+ RE-J10 is enough to get you 6k delta v has better twr, less weight and don't need fuel management between oxidizer and fuel ?

Looks all for looks... Wolfhoud just does not fit into design. Also nervas were main starting point as tug stage for return from Eve, from there it went to decision on Eve ascend stage engines. While it was VTOL spaceplane it was 1 vector, then I wanted to put 1 or 2 wolfhounds, but once I decided on starship configuration it became aerospikes. They can be really visually appeasing as engine gondolas on the bow, while wolfhound need to be somewhere on the stern to fit. Not to mention that this craft do not use all the aerodrag tricks or small ISRU... it can be way more "efficient"

Hm. I bet it would be hard to reproduce on console due to some techniques. Have no idea honestly. For the most part it is what you see, aside bow and stern. Top faring is starting at level of "aerospike" decoupler and go through all 3 tanks (one 1.75m tank is added from the side and clipped inside and serve as base for decoupler of last stage and as attachment point for fairing). This fairing is using nosecone trick to reduce drag. I just add 1.75m fuel tank to the side of the bow. Add faring to bottom of 1.75m fuel tank facing down, then rotate faring up, move it to decoupler level, construct fairing to my visual liking, add matching nosecone inside and then clip fuel tank inside with the whole construction. This way bow drag is reduced just enough to be viable for Kerbin - Mun and have extra kick on Eve. Outside of that it is useless and is extra dead weight. Tricky part is the lowest stage with ISRU. Convertotron, drill and landing can are visible from the outside. Fuel cells and comms are inside of nuclear engine skirt. Rotating mk3 liquid fuel tank 90 degrees allow to make these parts flush with decoupler and still have convenient access. Big stuff is 6-8 2.5m fuel tanks clipped inside. They are short and have insane and unrealistic drag. So nosecone/fairing trick is keeping them in line with similar large orange tanks with ordinary nosecones. I add to the side of mk3 tank 2.5m tank of matching length. Then add vertically 6-8 similar tanks. Clip them together into one blob. Add faring to the bottom of the first tank facing down. Flip faring up, construct faring to occlude nodes of tanks in the blob (killing tank drag). Add matching nosecone to faring. Clip tank blob inside Mk3 tank.

Eh, sorry if I’m giving you a reality check, but this is not hard with ISRU. No refueling is what makes the challenge so difficult. Very few players are able to do this, which is why it’s such a great challenge. You still did a fun mission but don’t fool yourself into thinking it’s even in the same league as a real grand tour. Start with a jool 5 mission. (no refueling of course) and you will get an idea of just how difficult grand tour is. I still really enjoyed the video and this wasn’t meant as an attack, only constructive criticism. 😊

It was pretty common thing to do before 1.0. Been there not interested anymore. Jool 5 default challenge is easy since it can be assembled in any shape with multiple landers. It was only difficult due to FPS/part count limitations back in the day.

Sure, the challenge became more doable with the addition of smaller engines/modules, but having small engines pale in comparison to the ability to refuel. Your craft is a good example of this. and you are 100% correct on the FPS/part count limitations. Regardless, you removed the hardest part of the challenge in a video titled "hardest ksp challenge"

Nobody watch "Landing Kerbals on every planet in one ship" or something similar, previously this video was uploaded under that title and got exactly 300 views before silent death.

This is becuase generally it is much more complex or "difficult" to design fuel efficient stages than a refuelable rocket. Any KSP veteran, and for that matter, probably Space X and NASA would tell you the same thing.

@JappyisHappy I have done both and disagree for the current state of the game. Making universal craft is harder, then building mothership with bunch of landers. Get like 35-40 nukes in several clusters, bunch of fuel in asparagus docking and 3 landers: one small SSTO plane, Eve lander and Tylo lander. That's it, you do not need to worry about drag, TWR and weight, you can always just add more fuel or landers. Yes, it was extremely hard to make grand tours, before we had delta V and TWR readings in vanilla. Now it is just matter of looking up numbers in the hangar. Also building big stations and motherships was almost impossible, but once we got autostrut AND dual docking it is now just matter of delivery and assembly. FPS now not an issue, hell recently I have retrofitted my 200 ton SSTO with 168 ion engines and it still was above 25 FPS in 4k with mods.

Я и так еле успеваю делать видео в свободное время. Идей много, реализация занимает время. Подобного рода видео требует около 20-30 часов при написании сценария, озвучке и монтаже (по-мимо записи геймплея). Видео на русском требует полностью новый монтаж и сценарий, русские слова длинее да и русские предложения задом наперед (или наоборот). И я давно отказался от подобных двуязычных затей, тупо выгораю на выполнении одной работы дважды.

It is harder to launch turtle-form ship for obvious reasons. First you need to get to an orbit before landing on any other celestial body. And cylindrical pencil shape is the only form factor that works in real life with current level of rocket engine technology. Look up first prototypes of Buran.
