Great recap. New to the channel. Felder picked Lake Placid for his first full? Good luck with that. LOL

Great summary, I really enjoyed your perspective on the race and hearing about the risks you took on race day. Definitely different than the age group racing!

I remember seeing your name in AG results. Congrats on making the jump to the pro field and showing you belong there. It would be interesting to hear more about your work (if you can talk about it) and how you fit in training with travel.

You should say that Sam only went under 2 hours because you helped him for that 1 minute!

I appreciate your videos and have watched you the last month or so. I enjoy following up and comers and obviously you are one of them. As a 'weekend warrior' triathlete I am always curious about the volume the pro's are doing. It seemed up until the last few years Pro's were doing about 20K of swimming but lately it appears that some of the pro's are doing 30K+ especially for those trying to get to the second pack that is talked about a lot. I understand you are a front pack swimmer and may not need that much volume. I would enjoy hearing more about the volume you are doing. Most of us can't comprehend you or any pro doing 350 watts for X amount of time (I know what it means and trust me it's VERY impressive) but we can understand you did 2 hours on the bike trainer with 4 X 20 minute intervals. Keep up the great work.

This is great insight! I think we should make a video when he is in his Lake Placid build, about volume! No fancy numbers or "nerd data".

Thank you! I myself am also a weekend warrior and have come up through the amateur ranks after starting the sport at age 23. I train 20 hours a week during a normal build (less during work travel weeks or before/after races) with most of that 20 coming on the weekends (5 on Saturday and 3 on Sundays). I have two other videos you can check out that highlight a week of training in my life with all the numbers. I am swimming 4-5 times a week 18-23k / week.

Nice work. Fun hearing your experiences. Do you own EMJ?
@justinriele8 ай бұрын
Haha, no. The founder of EMJ has been a long time triathlete and won his age group in Kona years ago. He is a good friend of mine and I have been on the team for 6 years.

In triathlons, why is riding by yourself considered "no-man's land"? Does the mental factor of following someone make it that much easier? (I only do TTs, not triathlons. Everyone rides by themselves else they're not riding hard enough.)

The 12 meter draft zone allowed in Ironman racing makes a big difference in the pro field when averaging 27-28mph. It's about a 10 watt benefit at 12m back (legal distance) per rider, and that is amplified further when you're in 3rd or 4th position back etc (can be 30 watts saved)
