Your rebuilds aren't realistic. Lin for two 1st rounders? You don't understand what the word "realistic" even means if you think that was logical. You pull that kind of stuff all too regularly to be flooding the 2K rebuild "market"

I don't get this, why don't you look at potential when looking at players to draft? It's really important to how fast they can develop and each player has a rating when you scout them. It's so easy and helpful. Also why dont you try negotiating contracts mid season? As you saw with Dinwiddie you could have locked him up at the beginning of the season for 10 mil but you waited till after he progresses and wants more money

I did a team rebuild of the Magic and was lucky enough to get a #1 pick, via a trade. I traded both Aaron Gordon and Nikola Vucevic to help revamp the team. I traded both of them, plus my #8 draft pick this season, for the #1 pick this year and and extra 1st round pick for next year (Suns). I also traded a 3 for 2 deal, plus an extra 1st round pick (for next year) for a new PG & SF (Grizzlies). In fact, Simmons was the only person I kept from the original starting line-up. My intention was to eventually use him as a 6th man for next year's season. I went all in on the hopes of one very special player, upon whom I could rebuild the franchise. I also got exceptionally lucky with a trade that got me the #11 pick as well. The results of the draft... (mind you, I did cheat a little and kept resetting the game until I could get a decent center as the #1 pick. It took only 3 tries.) #1 pick: A 7'5" 347 lb. monster at center - 82 OR (I didn't know the game allowed for a random generated player that big... but it did) (A+ potential). He won rookie of the year and lead the league in rebounds and blocks. #11 pick: a 7'0" PF - 78 OR (A Potential) ... For a #11 pick, I am ecstatic! This guy was not the greatest scorer outside of the paint, but defensively, the only player in the league with more blocked shots was my rookie center! Second round... yeah, that was garbage. For PG, I searched the league for a young player (with 3 years or less exp) who had a great ball handling and passing ratings. I wasn't as worried about avg PPG as I was with avg Assists. Kyrie Irving ... as part of a 2 for 1, plus my extra 2nd round pick.... but the Celts would not trade him. As a result, my 2018 starting lineup was: 20 y/o Michael James (82 OR) at Center (random comp generated player & #1 draft choice) 21y/o Lemar Kendall (78 OR) at Power Forward (random comp generated player & #11 draft choice) 24 y/o Kyle Anderson (76 OR) at Small Forward (As part of a trade deal with the Grizzlies) 28 y/o Johnathon Simmons (77 OR) at Shooting Guard 22 y/o Dylan Brooks (75 OR) at Point Guard (As part of a trade deal with the Grizzles) I was expecting Brooks, at PG to be horrible, but he actually did a pretty good job, considering he's usually a SG. Plus, not only did his OR go up from a 75 to a 78, he's also a decent 3pt threat. Simmons and Anderson did average, pretty much like I expected. Some games I would just set to auto play and sit and watch. Between James and Kendall, one game, between the 2 of them there were 18 blocked shots! James is bigger than Shaq! End of the first year... we made the play-offs, but were eliminated in the first round. For the 2nd season, I am keeping Brooks and Simmons, as they can both play 2 positions. Brooks plays PG & SG. Simmons plays SF & SG. They would both make great 6th and 7th man. If I do not find the perfect SG, I may decide to tandem the two of them at that position until I do. If not, I am seriously considering keeping Brooks at PG My goal for season 2 is to find an all-star PG and SF. I do have 2 lottery picks (via trades from last season (Suns #2 and Grizzlies #4) and the #19 pick. I'm doing the draft tonight.
@alleycat27596 жыл бұрын
My 2nd season draft saw only one real standout and that was the #2 pick in the draft, 20 y/o Daryl McGrady, a 6'7" SF with an 80 OR rating and an insane 45" vertical! (Note: Orlando once had T-Mac... Now they have D-Mac ... gotta love it!) He's fast, good ball handling skills, great mobility and good 3pt abilities. Offensively, he's the total package. Defensively, let's just say he's going to need a lot of work. However, with the two best rebounders and shot blockers in the league on the team, I'm not too worried about D-Mac's lack of defensive prowess. We will keep working on that in training camp... steals? block shots? Overall D? There is room for a lot of easy improvement, which should see his OR rise up quickly. With the #4 pick in the draft, I went for Andre Larson, a SG ... Note: PGs were not that great this season ... Larson is 6'5" with only a 76 OR rating. But, with the summer league and training camp, I got him to a 78 OR. Given Simmons is now 29 and Larson is the youngest team member, at just 19 y/o, I plan on starting him in at least 60% of the games. With a little bit of luck on the #19 pick, I did manage to grab Terry Peyton, a 72 OR point guard and got him to a 75 OR over the summer. One nice thing about Peyton is his A- potential. He should be a nice back up PG for Brooks for a season or two; and a possible future starter, if we can get him somewhere into the mid 80s on his OR. He will be a project, we'll see what happens with him. Playing thru summer league and training camps, my starting lineup looked to be very good. Much better than i was expecting for only in my 2nd season. Michael James (C) 87 OR (#1 draft pick season 1) 21 y/o Lemar Kendall (PF) 82 OR (#11 draft pick season 1) 22 y/o Daryl McGrady (SF) 83 OR (#2 draft pick season 2) 20 y/o Andre Larson (SG) 78 OR (#4 draft pick season 2) 19 y/o Dylan Brooks (PG) 81 OR (From season 1 trade with the Grizzlies) 23 y/o Bench top 5: Johnathon Simmons (SF/SG) 78 OR (Original team member) 29 y/o Jarel Martin (PF) 76 OR (Original team member) 24 y/o Terry Peyton (PG) 75 OR (#19 draft pick season 2) 21 y/o Tyson Chandler (C) 75 OR (Part of trade deal with the Suns) 35 y/o Terrence Ross (SG/SF) 73 OR (Original team member) 28 y/o In the deal with the Suns this season, I traded off Anderson (SF acquired last season from the Grizzlies) and Timofey Mozgov (Original team member), plus my 2020 2nd round pick for Chandler and the Suns 2020 1st round pick. On a side note, long term contracts were offered to the starting 5, plus Martin and Peyton. Players not mentioned on this post are dirt cheap, very low OR and never see game time. I've learned to sign your rookies to as long as possible, if you plan on keeping them. Re-signing them - if they end up being great players - in 2 or 3 years will cost a fortune! If they end up being a bust, trades will help defer that long contract. As a result, I currently have a LOT of cap room, which I do not plan on using anytime soon. Why? I want to make sure i can re-sign those 7 guys, plus next years draft picks for the next 10 - 15 seasons! We are talking an entire team of franchise players here. Before the official start of our 2nd season, I am already looking ahead to season 3. We will have our #1 draft pick (I do expect that to be late 1st round) and the Suns #1 pick (I expect a lottery pick with that). Possibly look for a 7'+ back up Center? But let's see how season 2 goes, before we worry too much about next season's draft.
@alleycat27596 жыл бұрын
MICHAEL JAMES IS A BEAST! At the end of season 2, he finished with an average 7.8 blocks, 17.9 Reb and 34 points per game! Sadly, however, although we were the #1 seed going into the playoffs. We ended up losing (114 - 117) to the Celtics in game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals, due to abysmal 3 point shooting by our rookie shooting guard, Andre Larson and losing one of our starters - for the rest of the season - in game 2 of that series. At PG: Dlyan Brooks - the former SG from the Grizzles in season 1 - stepped up all season and is becoming one of the best PGs in the league. Mind you, with James and McGrady as targets, it's hard not to lead the league in assists! Meanwhile, Terry Peyton (season 2, #19 overall pick) didn't quite live up to the hype. It was hopeful he would be the starting PG of the future, as Brooks' cap is only an 84 and his is 90; although his off the bench was respectable enough and did hold his own as a back up PG, he did not impress, nor could he surpass Brooks to take over that starting spot. At SG: When Andre Larson (season 2 #4 pick) is on, he is deadly from beyond the arc. When he is off, he suffered. He also had a problem holding on to the ball, leading the team in turnovers. As a result, he would start most games, but if he was having a bad day, Simmons took over as our main SG for that game. In total, Larson saw an average of 28 mpg, while Simmons was in for an avg of 26 mpg (Note: he did some back up at SF too). As expected, I did have to tandem these two players. Still to Simmons' credit he was listed as #2 on the list for the 6th man award! At SF: D-Mac all the way! ROOKIE OF THE YEAR! With an average of 30 ppg, finishing third on the list behind James and James (Michael and Lebron), our season 2, #2 overall draft pick, is en route to matching or surpassing the level of play Orlando once had in T-Mac. As for his back ups, again Simmons (now 30 y/o and original team member) stepped up whenever his name was called. Terrence Ross also saw a little time and pretty much held his own. What impressed me most about Ross was his defensive skills. He out performed what his stats would suggest. At PF: As a starter, Lemar Kendal (K-dog) did not perform very well on the offensive side of the ball, finishing 6th in overall scoring for the team. 6th man Simmons outscored him. But with the Beast and D-Mac dominating the league, offensively, he didn't need to. HOWEVER... Defensively, he dominated on the offensive boards - beating out James on ORpG - and finishing 2nd in the league in total Reb and blocks! His back-up, Jarel Martin, contributed a solid performance - even a little better than expected - whenever he came into the game. Still, it should be noted, during the 2nd game of the 6 game playoff EC finals, Kendal went down for the remainder of the season (he's fine now) and Martin came in as the starter. In the 4 games that followed, James (the Beast) was averaging just over 10 blocks per game and about 30 Rebs. It should also be noted that Martin is now and 80 OR and is only 2 OR away from his max potential. But at 25, this will likely be the last season he can make up those last two needed OR points to reach his full potential. We plan on giving him a few more minutes to help him reach that goal. At C: The Beast... arguably the best player in the game and the 2019 MVP ... Michael James. There is not one player in the league who can stop him move to the basket. I only play one game per game week and sim the rest. I counted SIX PLAYERS who were taken off the court due to injuries they acquired just trying to stop him! What is really funny is watching opposing players trying to charge the basket, only to hit the wall that is the BEAST! He just stands there and they are flat on their back! This guy is like Shaq on steroids! It's like the Hulk decided to play basketball! The only real downside of having him in the game is that his back up, Tyson Chandler really did not see much action. As a result, Chandler retired at the end of the season, at the age of 37. However, me may have found a suitable replacement for Chandler in the 2020 draft. The 2020 Draft: We went into the draft with the #28 Overall pic and the Suns #16 pic. Sadly for us, the Suns did a little better than expected, which kept us out of the lottery. HOWEVER... I think we came up with a decent pick with Dante Kane, a 7'1", 275 lb. Center (who can double as a PF, if need be). He may have only been a 72 OR, but he is versatile on offense and defense. He's good in the paint and has some outside skills, as well. He can also add a bit more defense, when situations call for it. He's not spectacular, but I am really happy with this pick, considering it was round 16. Over the Spring, we also managed to get his stats up a little bit too. My only real complaint is his age: He's a 24 y/o rookie. However, when selecting him, the mindset was, "We are looking for someone to occasionally give Michael James a rest, not replace him." Still, to give him a better chance to improve, we will look to get him as many minutes as possible ... especially in our occasional blow out games. Our #28 pick was traded to the Pistons, straight up, for their 2021 first round pick. Unlike the 1st two seasons, this draft wasn't anything spectacular. At only a C+ potential, Kane is our only draft selection in our history, who did not have a A- potential or higher. But, it didn't need to be. Overall, I am very happy with the results. The Orlando Magic 2020 starting line up, at the end of spring training and after acquiring a few upgrades to player OR: Michael James (C) 92 OR (#1 draft pick season 1) 22 y/o Lemar Kendall (PF) 85 OR (#11 draft pick season 1) 23 y/o Daryl McGrady (SF) 89 OR (#2 draft pick season 2) 21 y/o Andre Larson (SG) 82 OR (#4 draft pick season 2) 20 y/o ^Dylan Brooks (PG) 84 OR (From season 1 trade with the Grizzlies) 24 y/o Bench top 5: *Johnathon Simmons (SF/SG) **78 OR (Original team member) 30 y/o Jarel Martin (PF) 80 OR (Original team member) 25 y/o Terry Peyton (PG) 80 OR (#19 draft pick season 2) 22 y/o Dante Kane (C) 74 OR (#16 draft pick season 3) 24 y/o Terrence Ross (SG/SF) **73 OR (Original team member) 29 y/o * Two bench players are rated as an 80 OR, but due to his proven reliability and versatility at both SG and SF, Simmons is remaining as our 6th man. ** OR did not change from the previous season ^ At max OR Looking ahead to 2021: This is the first season I do not have a plan for next season. We have both our 1st and 2nd round picks, the Pistons 1st round pick and no trades for anything more ... yet. Part of what we will do depends on a couple factors: 1. SG Andre Larson's performance. Does he improve and become more dependable? If no, we have to think about finding another starter at SG ... or move Brooks to SG and search for a new starting PG. If Larson does what is expected of him... 2. We want to get Peyton into a LOT more game and give him many more minutes. As Brooks is now maxed out, yet young enough to last with us for another 8 - 10 years, we MAY look into moving him into that 6th man spot, once Simmons begins to drop. Much of what we do for the 2021 draft - if Larson does step up his game - is pay attention to the Brooks/Peyton match up. Thanks to spring training and last years performance, Peyton did improve 5 OR points... and that was with limited minutes in 2019. If giving him those extra few minutes per game in 2020 - allowing him to make a better impact - proves to be in his favor, we have our future PG (Remember he does have a 90 OR max - he's currently at 80) 3. Terrence Ross ... back up (SG/SF)... he's versatile and does step up when it is time to play. However, he will be 30 y/o and his OR - of only 73 - is not going to go any higher. If he starts to falter or his OR drops off, we may seek to find a good back up SF, SG or PG ... depending upon what happens with our other two concerns. 4. If we get by all 3 of these concerns in wonderfully successful fashion... is it worth changing a damn thing or seeking anything new? Our 4th option may simply be to try to successfully guess the final 2020 season standings and make a trade with who we think would be one of the worst teams and trade our 1st and 2nd round 2021 picks for their 1st round 2021 pick. 2020 prediction: (68-14) NBA Champions, winning the finals in game 5 (Note: we may throw game 5 if it means we can win game 6 at home)
