The place crumbled around her, and only after it had crumbled for a while did the burst of red happen. She would have died fairly quickly, so I think she survived. I hope so. She may not have the sons she loved, but she could still have the family she wanted enough to destroy all creation for. Though misguided and cruel in her goals, she deserves to have what she desired most.
