To celebrate 15 years of Hard Knock TV, we are uploading the full version of some of our favorite interviews over the years. In honor of Kendrick Lamar's birthday we had to dig into the Hard Knock TV vaults for one of the first ever sit down's early in his career. Hard Knock Tv's Nick Huff Barili and Mark Anthony Jenkins drove down to Carson, CA to take you behind the scenes into Kendrick Lamar's studio for in-depth interview. Kendrick talks about his previous alias "K. Dot" and why he changed his name, how the subculture of Compton is now versus when he was growing up, Tupac and his influence on the game, and his decision to not smoke weed. We also talked to Kendrick about working with DR. Dre, Detox and how he found out that Dre wanted to work with him. Nick, also asks Kendrick if he is going to sign to Aftermath and if he has any concerns about not being able to release his albums through Aftermath like a lot of previous artists not named Snoop, Emimem and Game. As the interview continues Kendrick shares that him and J Cole have been working on music and even gives us a sneak preview of the tracks. We heard 3 of them while in his studio and YES in this case you should believe the hype! Kendrick shares what its like to be a good kid in a mad city years before putting out his debut album. He also breaks down what he means by wanting to make "Human Music" and why he thinks that is missing in the game right now. Kendrick goes on to tell us who would be on the freshmen list for 2011 if he were to pick it and shares his picks for favorite albums of 2011 which were Kid Cudi and Rick Ross.
