So 6ix, here’s the thing. All my melodies are weak af. The sounds are terrible and the melodies are eh. I can deal with the melodies themselves being bad, but I can’t seem to figure out how to fix my sound design problem. I love watching these videos because hopefully I’ll learn. But I ran into an issue. You used omnisphere for this sound, and because I have omnisphere, I found the sound and recreated your beat. No matter what I do, what I play with, what effects I add, or anything, I cannot make my Melody’s sound design sound half as good as yours. I’m literally using the same sound and I can’t make this sound. I’m clearly missing something in the producing world because people like you are using the same sounds as me, but my melodies sound awful. How does this melody sound so light and fluffy? I tried changing the attack to make mine less punchy, but it’s still super heavy. I tried EQ’ing out some of the lows and it just makes it sound flat and trebley. I tried messing with it’s stereo separation, and that seems to help a little, but not near as much as I’d like. I’ve tried a mixture of all of these in small amounts, but I can’t do anything about it’s weird punchy sound. This is making me mad because if I can figure out why I can’t make this sound good, maybe I can fix why all my melodies sound whack. Since I can’t figure this out, I feel really helpless. I’ve spent so much time on just sound design alone and it doesn’t make sense to me. It makes me so mad because your DAW always looks so simple and I can’t make anything half as good as you and I put so much work into trying to make specific elements sound decent. Nothing helps my melodies get out of this weird amateur sound. I used to think it was my options for sound choices, but after year of making music, I know that’s only a small part of sound design. What am I missing?
