Johnny is a helluva singer that can be as powerful as Jon Bon Jovi, yet be his own sound. Very under rated and under exposed. After hearing so many comments about the background singers, Look at 8:45 - 8:50. Johnny is specifically pointing to those background singers and then pointing downward while looking at the front of house engineers. This is a really common practice. Those engineers should have picked up these signals and worked on it. Hardline is fucking amazing though. So happy to watch this for free online of all things. I want to see some of their more recent stuff live.

@greekfreak19808 жыл бұрын
Seriously,the sheer stupidity of YT-comments never ceases to amaze me.It's not like the background singers are singing louder,because they want to ''overpower'' the lead singer.Clearly the sound engineer fucked up royally here.You can actually see Johnny Goelli making handsigns to the sound engineer,not once but numerous times,during the gig.
@marcosvargas978 жыл бұрын
+greekfreak1980 I also noticed that.
@sndguy012 ай бұрын
As a sound engineer, sometimes the band is so freakin loud you have a tough time getting those vocals (and backing vocalists-who usually don’t have enough power to push through) to cut through the guitar, bass, and drum volume on stage. If this wasn’t his monitor engineer, this could have been the cause of the problem as well. Usually your guy knows what you need before you ask for it. Johnny still has a great voice today, though and he’s a true professional. This was just a bad example of exhaustion and crappy monitors, and he complained out loud. That’s not typical.
@rockermanpre74710 жыл бұрын
Easy to see in hindsight that Johny should have taken a couple of minutes to shout out to the FOH sound engineer and given him some clear directions as to what he needed to hear in the monitors etc. Have been in that same situation performing a gig on a big stage and battling to hear the right mix in the monitors.

The thing I don't get is why the poor mixing wasn't fixed after... I find it extremely unlikely that they recorded the whole thing as just one track, _surely_ they had it all split so they can mix it however they wanted afterwards.

Nothing pissed me off more than when a singer would say it sounds like shit to an audience that doesn't realize anything is wrong. I can't understand the complaints posted here too. It sounds great to me for a youtube video. Singer sounds great, I don't understand the people saying he sounds really bad after 20 years. The audience wasn't really into them, they were really quiet during and after the songs. I think from the beginning the singer pissed off the audience and they left them at that moment
@normanvannorden10 жыл бұрын
Everyone blaming the background singers are idiots. The band practiced with those background singers so they knew what they were doing .... The sound engineers both monitor and Front of house engineer are the ones to blame in this case. You can tell because the singer said it did not sound good on stage and the backup singers were mixed in to loud in the monitor and the front of house speakers. besides that it was still an awesome performance!!!

If the back up singers can not hear what they sound like...They personally shoulda had that mess worked out before hand. They sucked AND the sound dude had their sucktivity too loud.
