@@bosxe a lot of them were headliners or high up the bill though. The crowd should be packed for those guys. Booking a few different acts as palette cleansers can be great especially if they’re hardcore adjacent but having half the crowd leave for a bunch of your bigger acts is a pretty shitty situation. When Knocked Loose and Malevolence headlined last year the crowd was absolutely popping and the place was full to capacity. That’s what you want from a festival headliner surely?

I don’t disagree with what you experienced but clearly not everyone in the room was there ONLY for heavy music, ya know?

@@bosxe isn’t it just okay to be the best hardcore fest in the uk/Europe? You don’t have to try and grow the fest year on year till eventually there’s barely any hardcore, you’ve got a barrier and no one’s even moshing anymore. We already have several uk fest which used to have heavy music and over the last 10-20 years they just booked softer and softer stuff chasing new markets and money than no one who’s into heavy stuff goes anymore A hardcore fest has size limit 100%. So if the choice is either grow at the cost of hardcore or accept that limit and book hardcore bands then book hardcore bands I went to Maryland death fest once and it was amazing because they just booked legendary and upcoming death metal. They didn’t try and chase as much money as possible by booking a bunch of metalcore or deathcore bands to headline and bring in a different crowd. I’d say as well that while in the US there might be big crossover between hip hop and hardcore that isn’t really true in the UK. In the UK the crossover is with pop punk, metalcore, thrash, death metal, deathcore. If they want to book New Found Glory or w/e to headline that would bring in people while keeping the vibe the same and the venue full

MDF is a total gem, nothing has ever been like that since so it’s kind of an impossible standard. And I’d say there’s enough crossover to keep thousands of people at the end of a 3 day fest, so it’s enough to warrant the booking.
