Since I'm not young anymore, I remember that hardcore was both melodic and damn tough. Then there was a decline and hardcore began to be forgotten. But after the barrel was added to the melodic hardcore, it was jumping on notes, and a little slowed down, a new name suddenly appeared. Both are gorgeous.

Hardcore for me. I mean, the main properties of hardstyle are basically pitched up kicks, and tracks being more melodic. Not a fan of the former. I'd like hardstyle for the melodic angle, if it weren't that so many tracks use bland melodies. Exceptions exist as always(many shown in this vid), and there's some hardstyle tracks i really love - but if we're talking genres as a whole, hardcore any day for me. As for melodic/euphoric stuff - bring back oldschool hardtrance (hey, i can dream).
