I'm 56 years old so I was in my prime when trance, techno and pure MDMA in the form of white doves hit the Republic of Ireland in the early 1990s and today it's Sunday the 24th of March 2019 and I'm listening to music which takes me back to a time when I felt free, emotionally, psychologically and mentally for the first time in my life, we had as a people's just thrown off the heavy religious shackles of the Catholic Church and boy did I go crazy, nightclubs, empty warehouses, old railway tunnels and raves in the Wicklow mountains and in the basement of an abandoned church were all locations where I frequented just to dance to music which connected me to other like minded humans and it took me to another reality and how I miss those amazing times and all these years later when I listen to either, trance or techno no matter how hard it is, I still experience the same symptoms, my body sweats and my heart beat increases, thump, thump, thump, you know if I had a massive heart attack right now I would die with a smile on my face, because I class myself as one of the lucky people who experienced a time that will never come again but for those who were not so lucky, well just enjoy the music because it still has the power to touch the senses which gives us immense pleasure.
