Good job Steve, that's a big day in the saddle. My longest ride was just over 76 miles, only 2300 feet of climbing though and the terrain was nowhere near as gnarly as yours. It was a cold, windy day and the rain got progressively worse as the hours ticked by until it was horizontal for the last hour. It took me nearly ten hours including rest stops.

Very inspirational and amazing. Massive miles of trails like that is no joke! It’s really hard to feel confidence in your sealant am and plugged tires, especially with those conditions. I also hate it when a new expensive tire gets damaged too. I’ve actually taken tires off after the ride of course and glued and patched them from the inside. Something I learned in the Philippines was watching them repair my motorcycle tires at these repair places called “Volconized” tire repair. My stay in the Philippines I’ll make a video, it’s really smart how they repair tires!

Good work. For your next challenge you should come try the Prescott circle trail. 55 miles, 7800 ft elevation change. I have tried riding both BCT in one day as well as the circle trail but tapped out on each around the 40 mile mark. I tried them solo tho with just a pack and 3 liters water. I think if I had support or left a food/water cache, I could have made it.

@@hardtailparty Nice, lots of fellow single speeders up here in Prescott so you are in good company. I started on full rigid single speed when I first started riding 6/7 years ago but now I like the gears and full squish. Only beta that I have is that the usual campground spots that are used as water refill spots are shut down due to the virus so no agua there, but shouldn't be an issue if you have support or leave some caches.

How about a video on how to patch the inside of a tubeless tire when you are back at home? Might be interesting for those of us new to tubeless!

Yes, I've been meaning to do that. My wife just filmed one. It'll be out on her channel soon. I'll do one too one day.

I watched the video twice but I can't see the name of the rigid bike. My Finna Landscape's rigid steel fork flexes too much when braking on descents (with 29''x2.6'', American Classic Wheels and avid bb7 mech brakes) and I wonder if it's similar with other rigid bikes. Keep up this great channel

It's a surly krampus some rigid forks are meant to be rigid while others are meant to flex.

@@hardtailparty thank you! Btw, 29 front and 27.5 rear for trails and/or bikepacking? I wonder what your view is on this topic, aside from geometry changes

What an awesome ride but now I'm having doubts about buying a hardtail if I want to do long cross country trips like this. Decision, decisions.

I'll be back on a plus harstail soon. For an overnighter, I choose the hardtail. For crushing it out in a day, a full sus marathon bike is the best. This is a pretty rocky trail too.

Omg that is so awesome!! Very surprised you did more elevation loss than gain. By any chance how many calories did you burn?

I'm not sure. My calorie meter on my computer is super inaccurate. I wasn't wearing my heart rate monitor because it makes it a little harder to breathe.

Good work man! I ride a trail that is a lot like this, but 90% shorter. It’s a lot of off camber, exposed, skinny single track which is awesome for the views, but I always gets pedals strikes on the uphill side. It kills my confidence to clean the whole thing especially when it gets chunky on the trail. Any tips for mostly climbing up this sort of trail. Going back down isn’t a problem because I can keep my pedals flat and know right where they are. Again great work on the ride and the channel!

I'll be building a course on this very topic soon. A few quick tips are to learn to time your pedals. If you see a rock coming and you think you might hit it with your pedals, coast for a split second then resume pedalling after you pass it. You can also try a different gear and attack it with a bit more speed.
