For me, Steven Sackur's accent is a gift from above.I understand almost everything that he says.He speaks relatively slowly and he enunciates every word he says.

Growing up, my dad a Kenyan Foreign Affairs civil servant enjoyed Hardtalk a lot. That way, I got hooked to Stephen and Zeinab, my all time favourite.

Around the time when Tony Blair stepped down, there was a wildly entertaining double interview/convo on Hardtalk with John Bolton and Chris Patten, moderated by Zeinab Badawi on Blair, British Foreign policy, the Iraq War and the meaning and future of the "Special Relationship". Bolton took part by satellite link. I remember it because it was so, well, frank and the two men (who were opposites in many ways) sometiems barely acknowledged each other's questions but just expounded their own views of what the Special Relationship meant and how Bush's legacy ought to be seen. Badawi, ever the professional, seemed to recognize that even if the two men were talking past one another it made great TV. :) It was so much fun watching - could you please dig that one out and upload it to KZbin in full?

Seeing this after ages. Thank you for what you do. There are many situations where politicians, businessmen and other powerful figures would lie to their own countries, companies and communities, but cannot afford to do so in front of a global media institution. That is where I see the power of these interviews. I see you like a honey trap which traps out the bees who think they can best the trap.

Tim Sebastian was one of the reasons I started studying at English Department at University of Łódź. His journalistic style, his expertise, his personality....huge impact on my life! I love politics, sociology but after watching Hard Talk for a few years I fell in love with journalism. Thank you Tim Sebastian.

I found him insufferable. Whiny and unwilling to wait for a guest to answer. Infuriatingly cutting off and stifling every guest. I get that the purpose is to test the character of the person interviewed but his style was grating and frustrating to watch

But WHY has the best interviewer in the world Tim Sebastian spent his time working in Germany? He would have tossed and gored Farage Johnson Mogg Banks et al within 24 hours, History might have been different, Tims story of the US helicopter pilot is poignant beyond belief, But all four are superb, They speak truth to power and they believe in truth, BBC ,,,,,never forsake your duty in this world, Be worthy of these four great souls

Mr Sackur we really liked your Hardtalk program we would love if one day you will enterviewLenie Robredo because we don’t believe that she won the last election and yet the whole Philippines voted for Bongbong Marcos . By the way I lived UK for 30 years now but still concerned how still many corrupt from previous government (Aquino) .Looking forward Mr Sackur.

So the "Hardtalk" here then, how much did that food and drink cost?
@周好江南4 жыл бұрын
It’s weird. Look at some most controversial videos of this series and there are tons of critique on how Stephen Sackur host the interview - biased and interrupting. In the recent interview about Hongkong it’s almost like a fight. Yet here people are celebrating and recognizing him. Clearly he enjoys certain reputation in British journalism industry. Can someone from UK tell me how people in UK view him? Thanks.

I think Stephen Sackur is an awesome interviewer, BUT, Tim Sebastian is The Master. The other two, particularly Zeinab Badawi, just don't have what it takes particularly on the real hardball interviews. I simply won't watch any interview she conducts. Too wishy-washy.
