First your question is about HMC 9 upgrades and this series is about HMC8! Second, this is a regular upgrade just follow the "Read me" type upgrade instructions and save the config to apply afterwards. :😃

hello Sir Nigel, your videos are very fantastic and helpful for me sir im working in RPG using green user Screen AS400 if I use the command ENDSBS for disconnecting all terminals from server using only Console window but some times any reason it stuck is there any option to open 2nd user green screen at the same time for cancelling the 1st one or using 2nd user screen for work... Or any option to cancel the task under processing like 'X' bottom of the screen. Thanks regards

Hi Nigel, Is HMC operating system ? or it is a software/application and running on a Linux/Unix operating systems ? Kindly help me with your inputs.

Hi, The HMC is an appliance = software you install, which includes an OS and an embedded application. So no fiddling about nor root access. HW HMC includes a Power processor based small server (was Intel is the past) or SW HMC running in a hosted VM under (from memory) Linux KVM or VMware for customers with very small numbers of Power servers.

Can I have link to download hmc 7 for VMware client, want to use my power5 for personal use.

You need to purchase the HMC support to download it and that HMC 7 version is out of supported anyway.

This is a small upgrade - this should be documenting on the IBM Knowledge Centre (now called IBM Docs) or the ReadMe for the upgrade image. Sorry I do not have a link to these at the moment. You can of course, raise a HMC Support PMR and ask if you can't find it.
