Another reason why taking power from the DVD isn't a good idea because I had a decrease in performance by doing something similar. I put two 3V LEDs in parallel in my 360 HDD and it actually caused my games on the HDD to load slow. Just sharing my experience.

little tip for checking to see which point is which on the led's get a 9 or 12v battery and hook two leads to it touch the two leads to the points and the strip and see which way works

I find the factory solder seems to be somewhat tamper proofed. It seems to dry a lot quicker. If your not quick you have to rehead it and run the risk of burning out the points. I done the LED mod on the dvd drive wire and had no issues. I would say the led mod for the HDD is far more annoying.

Where did you get that fan shroud? My console has talismoon and external 12v fans, so I think that it would look cool if I could see the light coming from the talismoon fans since there is holes in the top of the casing, just to see that extra bit of green :P

idk what watt soder gun your using but probably the reason it made such a mess when you were doing the wires to the board is because it was to high of a wattage. a 25-30 would probably be better.

Its not that. There is not a lot of solder on those points and when trying to add more it does not melt very well to the existing solder. I was using a 30 watt iron and I have tried lower 12 watt on it also makes no difference. Just that particular console as I have done this to other consoles and the solder melts with existing just fine.

It would probably be easier to solder the wires on if you tin the wires first. You would use less solder than your blob method. Also, if the existing solder isn't getting hot enough, it might be to your advantage to remove that, clean the pad, and add new solder. Good tutorial!

I got 3 red lights after doing this, I cleaned up the flux residue but still overheating, LEDs are 12v so I don’t see why it’s causing issues

@@mffcrazyv8940 Think it was because i didn't have the fan duct on, It can cause overheating. As soon as the fan duct was back on the console and i cleaned up the flux residue with isopropyl it was working fine. Always make sure the board is cleaned

My soldering iron, even at 480°, DIDNT CONNECT THE BLOODY WIRES EASILY. I spent 3 whole fucking hours doing this, just for the Xbox to blow up My fucking tips oxidised or whatever the fuck, and even when I did EXACTY what you did, my iron just didn’t want to do it. Fucking bullshit Edit: I had a sook and went back to it, realised I also had the ground on power and the power on earth. After I somehow resoldered them without a problem… it worked. Perfectly. Now my windowed led console exists… all out of the first console I ever owned. :3 only took me 7 years to achieve this

a zombie The link you posted is to the pre-set LED's for the Xbox where the power is connected to the DVD drive power cable. I don't like them because you only get 3 LED's per strip and only 2 strips plus it can draw power away from the DVD drive which can cause disk unreadable errors but they are really easy to install. The one that I linked you to has 300 LED's on a big strip and is better value for money however it uses the same method shown in this video.

TakeYoLzz you probably heated up your iron too much, I did that on my first rgh attempt and it killed it, but with practice on that dead board I made an rgh on the 2nd attempt.

Because it's only 2 strips and it uses the DVD drive power cable to power it which is not good and by buying a large amount as I did allows me to do a bunch of consoles not just 1. I sort of explain at the start of the video.

Hixel™ (GTA5 Glitches & More) If the 12 volt wire gets grounded then it will give you RROD and the power brick light will go red. Make sure you fix the gounded wire then just unplug the power cable and plug it back in and it should work.
