Did the same test with 2 160a's. I love my AS 260 but in all tests, I preferred my 160a's. The punch on both are ridiculous!!

Good demo. Relevant? You had to be there, I suppose... _[see: final sentence]_ The thing about the 160VU is it's 'boxtone' melding with it's behavior: the hard-knee combined with a crusty detector-circuit makes for a certain quality in how it "dovetails" together the kick-snare-cymbal decays into the subsequent GR. Most everything run through it is stretched and smacked to the consistency of feeling like *thick rubber.* Many other comps can get part-way there but none are exactly the same. I used the Waves for a bit but my old Fatso was better at it, and was not well-satisfied until I got the 260VU = Instant late-70s/early-80s radio sound, (aka "Slap") and in spades!

TL;DR: A good comp can take a plain beat and make heads bob. A 160VU makes everyone get up and _dance._

if u still have all the units can u do a vocal comparison, mainly hip hop rap, 2pac shakur used the dbx 160 on all his vocals, he loved the way it would work on his vocals to make them punchy

@@DolbyAtmosMixing I personally have all of the DBX style plugins, and its my favorite for sure. They even modelled the infamous "peakstop limiter" (which is actually a really vibey and colorful clipper)
