With the x27 at 1650usd and the pg27uq at 1500usd (even though it's slightly worse), it's hard to justify the 35inch models unless someone REALLY wants the 200hz VA curved over 144hz ips at a 70% price premium. It feels like they cut more corners on these 35inch models to increase margins, though 1440p uw 144hz 4:4:4 on a 2080 ti is a really good selling point, they might have pushed pricing too far. I asked friends who have the 27inch models and none of them have any interest in the 35inch models.

Neither of these monitors are worth their price. Not even close. Quite a letdown really, given the long wait for them. Maybe you could justify this cost if they were no-compromise products, but they clearly aren't. @@forza1sra @forza1sra It should be expensive.. just not so damn ridiculously even with the gsync licence. $1,500usd or so would be more correct, perhaps offering a 100hz model for $950usd. 'Fast' gaming VA's now are not giving us the 5000:1 contrast ratio older 60hz AMVA panels did around 2014, and IPS's still look like they are from 2010 IQ wise. Given how cheap 512+ point Fald is for 4k 120hz LCD TVs; just absurd to pay over $2k for these.

This review was over before it had begun. That fan is a 100% deal breaker. Even if the monitor was a beast and reasonably priced I would not consider it. Just imagine paying 3000-3500$€£ and having that flickering problem...For that amount of money an employe from Acer or Asus should come in your house and install the monitor in your desk for you... Just now watching this, bored at work, months later. I've had the X35 since it first sold in the US. Mine did have that fan ramping up and down problem, but that only lasted a month or so then it stopped. As for overdrive, I find Normal with FALD enabled to be the best setting. Turning this to extreme with FALD results in major overshoot. It does essentially remove all ghosting, but I find this to be far more distracting than the ghosting. As for color accuracy, out of the box it was pretty good. Perhaps yours got banged a couple times in delivery? Only problem I have with mine is a manufacturing defect I noticed about 3 months after purchase. The plastic that borders the panel has a small, probably 3cm section on the very top bezel, that is raised a couple centimeters. I'd like to see these monitors re-tested as several months after being put on sale, a firmware update was pushed out for everyone to download and install onto their monitors. Aside from what it aimed to correct (a flickering issue), it may have made other adjustments as well. You can buy an X35 for $1800 or so now in the US on Amazon. Not too bad honestly, although I'd point people towards the C9 by Samsung before this, unless you really need that HDR1000.

First of all, great review! I don’t consider myself rich by any means, however I will invest (if able) in high quality/performing products. After doing countless hours of research, I decided to hold off on buying a gaming monitor. It seems there’s always a compromise on specs despite paying premium. I just feel like we’re not there yet. I also feel like CES 2020 was a letdown from the gaming monitor category, perhaps next year we will see more competitive products launch 🚀 . Really bummed as I want more screen real-state from the 27” I got now for both work and gaming lifestyle. Looking forward to more 38” ultra wide curved gaming monitor category with at least 1600p, 1ms response, HDR1000, G Sync and 166+ Hz. That’ll be my dream monitor 👍🏽

$2500 will get you a 65” LG oled C9! I guess if you want it and got it, then you’ll buy it. These manufacturers are high!
@highmm26964 жыл бұрын
High end TVs sell alot more than high end monitors, so manufacturing cost is lower. Plus LG make the panels for their own OLED TVs, where as the panels in these are sources externally, boosting prices. Soon these prices with drop, but these monitors are like the first gen OLED TVs, very very expensive.

I just got the X35, and I must say that I really don't enjoy it. Color banding and backlight haloing that moves because of FALD. Because of FALD watching movies in HDR with subtitles is useless. Bottom half of the screen lights up with a halo every time someone speaks. Now, it could be that I just got a bad sample. It is an AU Optronix panel, after all. For US$2200, I expected good quality, not an eye sore. Fact is, my 2017 Dell Ultrasharp is a better experience, because it has no color banding and no halos that moves around the screen. Yes, I have the newest firmware. Atleast, I don't think I've heard the fan yet. Anyway, now I have the AW3420DW on the way, and this is going back to the store. Anyone else having these issues?
@bryr99974 жыл бұрын
I know this is an old comment, but you have to expect haloing around subtitles in HDR, that just comes with the territory. Only oled avoids this problem. In the x35 you have one of about 5 monitors on the planet that offers that picture quality (excluding obviously professional monitors).
@RRhoads274 жыл бұрын
@@bryr9997 I slowly got used to the monitor. I have two ultrawides now that are good with both their strengths and weaknesses. I also have a AW3420DW. I have come to terms with the fact that the perfect monitor doesn't exist.

@@RRhoads27 How are you finding your AW3420DW? I am finding my colours very dull, and an issue with my monitor not waking up from a long sleep. @@knh8008 I have the two monitors AW3420DW and X35 side by side. Neither monitor has dull colors. I have used a SpyderX Pro to calibrate monitors. Great review as always! I need advice though. Local store has an x34GS on sale but there is also a private sale 2yr old (still under warranty) x35 200hz with dedicated gsync-ultimate I can get for the same price! I like that the x34gs seems to have faster input time and less input delay(I think) due to the panel being IPS? but I'm not sold on there being only gsync-C and possible ips glow. - I like that the x35 is VA with real HRD and BLACK blacks but then I'm worried about mouse pointer halo as I don't only play games but also do a bit of web design and photoshopping. *colour accuracy is not a selling point however. Anyway, for fps games and a bit of work procrastination haha Which monitor would be the best? *Im swaying towards the x35 due to it being such a powerhouse monster - it also apparently doesnt have the fan ramping as it was a later release, I assume with the bios updated which seems to address that issue. I currently have a very old x34a 100hz that is great but its time to upgrade as I just built a new gaming rig with a 3080ti etc. Thanks for any help.. I would love to know your opinion :) Thanks for all the great reviews and info :) So my question - X34GS or X35? :) heeeelp! thanx

I have the older version of this monitor (only 100mhz refresh not 200 and no HDR) and I love it. Just wish it didn't cost so much. I would be more likely to get this over the ASUS as it looks less "gamery" from the front. I'll never understand RGB lighting on the back of a monitor

It just seems that Asus QC issues are more widespread than Acer, IMO. And if the Acer X35 needs the color adjusted, then I would just do it. For whatever reason, fan noise does not bother me. And I've had my Acer 27", IPS, 'XB271HU' monitor for about 4 yrs now... it has been a great monitor, beyond my expectations. So, I would get the Acer X35 over the Asus. BUT, today (May, 2020), I feel there are a few probably better options over both of these... We are getting into Sim Car Racing, and researching ultra wide monitors for my son and I. The ones I'm leaning to now are the LG 34GN850-B, the LG 34GK950F, and the Agon AG353UCG, and possibly the Alienware AW3420DW. If anyone has thoughts on this, please respond here...Thanks.

I mean the X35 and those other monitors you listed are kinda made for different purposes. If you don't care about HDR, you should get one of those others you mentioned. If you do care about HDR though, the X35 is going to give you an amazing experience, whereas those other's won't look any better than SDR. I own the X35, but if HDR didn't matter to me Id have gone for the LG 38gl950 personally.

@cheytacsnipes5 жыл бұрын
Don't mean to shit on your birthday, but this monitor would be a waste. In a year or 2 we will have way better solutions for HDR with less noticeable or not noticeable local dimming. Better off using that XB271HU for another year or two and then getting something actually worth the price. GtG is absolute shit on these too, so you get ugly ghosting. Or you turn on the overdrive and you get pretty bad inverse ghosting. Unless you or your family is rich, this is a bad buy. Just buy some other nice things, and then in 2 years you get a super nice monitor.
@SuperAdventureR13014 жыл бұрын
@@cheytacsnipes I don't necessarily disagree with you, but i hate it when people say to wait for the better technology. There will literally ALWAYS be something better "just a couple years away". If you wait for perfect, you'll literally be waiting your entire life. I guarantee that the next generation of monitors will have their own issues, and people will be saying "just wait a couple years and those issues will be fixed". I'd still be on my old, $500 overheating laptop if i kept telling myself to just wait for that next piece of technology that'll be better. At some point you have to decide whether you want to keep waiting, or just live life.

Still not good enough, seriously can't wait for OLED or some other motion-blur destroying technology to come along. Recently watched a video that further confirmed a Resolution has reached peak saturation, now I think effects like HDR, motion-blur reduction, black levels, colour accuracy are what matter now. Think I'll get the msi mpg341cqr as it's smearing doesn't seem to bad from what I've heard and IPS panels have terrible contrast.

Well that’s basically the only real difference although it also has a much better black level with no flow or bleed thanks to the fald. It also feels a little less input laggy as well.
