Old Bess was a hard woman. And when she built this house at enormous expense it caused a lot of controversy as it had too many large windows, which went against the fashion of the time. But Bess didn't care, she knew what she wanted and went for it.

Glad you liked the video. With regard to the music. When I have placed some videos on You Tube it does say that there may be issues in some countries due to copyright of music. You Tube simply block the video from being shown in the country where there may be a problem.

Wonderful video; loved seeing how the building relates to the surrounding countryside! The little stuffed duckie on the mantle at three minutes in was pretty adorable too!

I had the pleasure of touring Hardwick Hall this past July, and found it amazing. Too bad the original building is now in ruin and losing the plaster friezes that once graced above the fireplace mantles. I'm amazed that a mini series or movie has never been made about this fascinating Tudor period woman.

I'm from the U.S. and I've never seen Hardwick Hall before. It seems like this place has a lot of really unique architecture. Would I be right to assume that?

Thank you for your reply. I find that very enlightening. You Tube are much more helpful in this respect than facebook who simply block your account from loading up videos with no redress whatsoever. Keep your lovely videos coming please

Lovely video.Like this because love the place and this is so well done. It's just down the road from us but as I spend a lot of time abroad, I don't get to see it often enough. I can watch this anytime I like. The music is lovely too.Do you have copyright because on my videos, I only use my I Mac i Sounds etc but am getting claims on the music.Fell foul of facebook on music issues.(Using full pieces like this).I am new on You Tube.Do you have any advice for me please maclad007 ?
