@N0xiety5 жыл бұрын
Well, any kind of storage device uses electrons to work, and i doubt this will change for a long time, if ever. And that means they will always emit heat, which needs to be dumped somehow. And for that, i doubt heat exchange with the atmosphere would ever go out of fashion. It is just simply an efficient, cheap and easy way of dumping heat, and fans are as simple as it can get when moving air around to achieve that. There are already alot more advanced ways of dumping heat for non atmosphere environments, but why use them when you can just use fans to do the job 100 times cheaper and more efficiently? No need to invent the wheel again...

Every once in awhile I hear strange voices coming over some of the computers but I'm not sure what language it is but I've been told not to answer I'm just make sure that nobody gains admittance inside here and so far since I've been here and that has been nearly 9 years now no one has taken an interest in trespassing in here.... Well I'm wide awake and on the job and I'm making sure that I'm alert because I'm in case something happens well not much happening so take care, stay safe and most of all GOD BLESS and Good Night and Thanks.

On a Station or a large Starship, the Server Room's going to be the hottest room on the vessel (second only to the Reactor or the cabins on a slow lonely night). Thankfully the room is likely going to be filled with Air Conditioners and/or Vents to keep the room in comfortable conditions. This might be a nice room to sleep in if you can find some cushions to lie on. The whirring of the Fans/Vents and the occasional beep or electrical click of the Servers will make for some excellent white noise to focus on. Or you could pass the time by accessing the servers, though depending on what specific information you want to access that's probably not going to be the best way to pass the time.
