Could you show or explain how did you finish the uppermost tread juncture with the carpet? I need to do that and I am scratching my head how to achieve it without getting a tacky solution, and yours looks nice. Thanks.

Oohhh this is Mannington flooring page. Couldnt understand why he started with a 10 oz caulk gun then went to just smearing the whole step from a 5 gallon pail. How's the longevity? They probably did this just before a sale. Walk in the door of a home what do you see?

you're using floor panels for stair treads? ive never seen that is it normal? How do you buy those to fit?
@georgebush60023 жыл бұрын
You don't buy to fit. A Table saw ripped down the length of the board to fit against the riser and a mitre saw crosscut the edges to fit against the stair sides.

@1:40, why trim tread? Why not take it up and put new hardwood tread? I'm try8ng to learn. Thanks

Where did you get the materials for this job? How much did u spend? Great job
@fvidal0075 жыл бұрын
For the white risers, the cheapest thing you can do is buy a sheet of 1/2 MDF and cut multiple time to riser height. For hardwood, you can go to any flooring store and buy it there. On average, hardwood prices are around 3-5 dollars per sqft. And the nousings are around 50-90 dollars a piece. One piece usually is good for 2 steps.

How do you get the rounded edges on the front
@ralphmouth87324 жыл бұрын
@@theresamayfield It's probably stair nose molding. Most big box and flooring stores carry them.

What happens if the riser has a bit of a bend when you put it in (i.e. if the middle stringer was a tiny bit deeper, the riser would sit a little concave)? Would it be better to shim the riser before installing it (to remove the bend)? Or would it be better to put the riser in, then shave off a bit on the tread to make it sit flush with the riser? Also, I see some installations where the tread is put down first, then the risers sits on top of it (instead of tread butting up against riser). What's the best way?

I would put weight on it and brad nail it down.
@georgebush60023 жыл бұрын
I assume you instead the stair tread already. If you feel comfortable and it's not too much trouble would you please share what method you used to address your middle stair stringer being deeper. Did the tread stay tight?

Don’t ever put blue painters tape on prefinished hardwood. Read the fine print on the inside of the tape roll. It will remove the finish.
