The Hardy's of Alnwick H.J.S. multiplier reel made between 1938 and 1952 was designed by 'Jock Scott' a writer and angler, after the American style of baitcasters, for use with a short rod with offset reel seat. A set was available including a twin line winder/dryer and oil bottle in a wooden box. Unlike most multiplying reels at that time the reel was narrow spool and had no level-wind mechanism. It has a free-spool lever which was automatically engaged when winding in...probably a first.
The complete set includes a cane rod of 5'6" with twin tops. Light & Heavy, and cork handled, metal, cranked reel seat with a removable trigger.
