The boots line is not only a reference to another song, but also i hear it as self reflection that he’s made this song before, ie, being the mocking bird and the crow because truck bed sounds nothing like anything on country radio but at the same time, it’s ground hes covered already

These new songs are awesome. They all seem to have a deeper meaning tied to each other about how he seems to be divorcing from popular country. Boots is about him always going back to country music, mockingbird and the crow is about how he is coming into his own, outside of country's influence, and this is about country music kicking him to the curb for finding his own way. He even talks about taking his boots off this time so he doesn't wake up with them on again. So awesome how they all seem to tie into each other.

I truly appreciate your page, I played a recorder in 4th grade and that’s it, I know nothing except what sounds good to me and you are breaking things down so people like me can understand. I’m 40, but I haven’t listened to so many of the bands he pulls inspiration from because no joke, my dad called the cable company and blocked MTV and VH1 so I only listened to 70’s rock that my dad listened to or country (grew up in ‘the city’ of 20,000 people but my moms sister and her family lived 15 minutes from us in the country so spent a lot of time riding horses, counting cows, mucking stalls, etc growing up. Have 10 acres outside that same city with husband, son and animals but have 180 acres 45 minutes away that will become my sanctuary once our high school freshman son is out of college/husband leaves the steel mill and works for himself. Husbands hobbies are life skills like tapping trees to make syrup, canning, hunting, etc. Hardy’s song Kill Sh!t til I Die is perfect because we won’t have to rely on others. Sorry for the novel! Your excitement over Hardy’s music makes me excited! Give Heaven Some Hell is one of my favorites of his, the video is incredible. So Close with Ashley Craftland I think it is shows how great he is at duets as well. It’s more country but I think you’d appreciate it.
