I spent hours of every day experiencing the amazing benefits of this chant/mantra while in detox and rehabilitation. Always deemed myself a devout atheist as all the modern and I suppose western versions of religion give me little if anything at all I can agree with or benefit from. My Hindu brother I met in the rehab centre taught me the words, and more importantly, the benefits of meditation and mantras alike. A few years after rehab I had stopped reciting anything I learned, and found myself going back down the same road. Every day since I spend as long as possible every morning letting Krishna better my life. Guess I’m not the atheist I once was. Love to all. Hare Krishna, to all Krishna consciousness devotees. I used to go to Krishna temple in Watford every week, and that was so peaceful ever. Then, after all of a sudden, I moved to India and did not get a single chance to do such devotion, and one day, I was surfing on KZbin, and again, all of a sudden I got this amazing, peaceful, soothing melody on the screen, I just heard this melody after 6 years and went back in to flash back. @A K Yes it is a religious song. Even if the words are coming from Hindu vedas (as you explained it to me). Doesn't the music, the rythm still come from the humans ? And in this case can't it be, as the same time, divine words and a piece of art ? Just like Micheal Ange painting a representation of the Christian god in the Sistine Chapel. Dear Francesco, because the Lord loves us all, He always gives the ways to approach Him. Hatha yoga is also one way to aproach Him. But not in this yuga-Kali. We simply have not all conditions needed to be fully succesfull in Hatha yoga in just one life. Bhakti yoga gives us that chance. We can make a connection-yoga to all atractive God-Krishna instantaniously, simply by saying His Names, specialy Krishna. God is absolute, so His Names are Him, they are non different from Him. Of course, most of so rely on our eyes, that we want to see Him, but ...we can hear Him. We do not see so many things with our eyes, like air, water in the air, bacterias, elements, .... It is very difficult to see even one very powerfull person, like some president on this planet personaly, what to speak of the all powerfull One? If you demand to see mr.president Putin personaly, they will probably ask you, who are you to demand something like that? One should not try so hard to see Him with his or her very one eyes, but rather live in such a way that He will see us with His eyes. God is nevertheless very easily seen and luckily even heard in various forms through His instructions, because He made Himself very easily approachable to a sincere seeker. There are not even strict rules for singing maha mantra, which are usually needed to follow to gain the desired effect of a mantra.
