that venue looks incredible! wish we had places like that in England. in regards to the shouting at slower riders, i think it ruins the sportsmanship. if someone is a better/faster rider they should be able to find a a way around. in last weeks race alot of the faster riders were shouting at slower ones, like "get out the fucking way!" or "fucks sake MOOOVE!" in areas where people were getting stuck on a log and there was already a queue of riders or where there was nowhere to pass. its supposed to be fun, no one is getting paid to ride, no one is sponsored and it puts off new or slower riders. i have no problem with someone shouting excuse me, on the left/right, or blipping the throttle to make you aware they're right behind you, but the abuse is pathetic. the organisers actually docked a championship rider a lap for shouting at people last week.
@fastguysslowbikes2 жыл бұрын
The faster riders CAN get around. But could you imagine if all the faster riders were putting racing passes on slower riders? Would you rather me whistle at you, or come in and take your line as if I'm racing against you?
@danhopkinson28112 жыл бұрын
The whistle is fine, though i’ve never known a racer in England whistle. As i said a quick shout or rev is fine, but riders last weekend were just swearing at people. Which wouldn’t be so much of an issue if it was because riders holding them up weren’t pulling over to let them pass. They were coming into sections where theres one single line and of someone crashes or gets stuck/stalls everyone has to wait regardless. Yet twats behind where still shouting. Our races are not like GNCC where theres loads of lines and you can ride anywhere within 20feet of the orange markers. Its often a single line, in a venue thats been ridden multiple times a year, every year for decades so the lines are cut in like a ditch or gully.
@fastguysslowbikes2 жыл бұрын
@@danhopkinson2811 if they stall they should immediately get off their bike and push to the side of the trail. Immediately. Not try to start it a few times first. If they're getting yelled at they were probably being a pain in the ass. The more advanced riders have been doing this a long time. We know how many opportunities you had to yield.
@danhopkinson28112 жыл бұрын
Did you not read a single word i just wrote? THERE IS NO SIDE OF THE TRAIL. If you stall, crash, get caught up in a rut or on a log there is no getting out of the way. Its a SINGLE line. You don’t seem to be understanding what i’m saying. Riders have come from an open field, into a narrow wooded section so obviously its going to bottle neck. One rider gets it wrong and EVERYONE has to wait. Then there was some dickheads shouting at people, it wasn’t their fault, they were held up to. There was no opportunity to yield if the championship riders haven’t made a pass in the open fields. That is why the event organisers warned several faster riders and docked a lap from one rider who was warned and continued to shout and swear through the remainder of the race. It if wasn’t uncalled for the organisers would let it slide.
@danhopkinson28112 жыл бұрын
And sure, you may think those slower riders are a pain in the ass, but they are racing their race to. If you want a race where you don’t have to deal with much lap traffic do sprints or motocross. Otherwise you just have to accept the fact you are racing with people of all abilities, all on the track at the same time. I’ve been doing this a long time to, which is why I know there was no chance to yield

First I got a lot out of that video very unique really. Anyway race etiquette, so at the start of a race stuck in really tight single line, no place to pass and you’re trapped behind people in your class. Another guy (probably in your class) behind you reving and yelling. I’m of the opinion he can pack sand. I’m trapped behind dudes I know I’m faster then just no place to get by should I let the dude behind me pass me so he can get caught behind the dudes I’m caught by? I’m thinking oh hell no
@fastguysslowbikes3 жыл бұрын
Which part of the video are you referring to? Sometimes if I'm yelling it's becasue the guy two bikes ahead is in a different class and needs to yield so me and the one in front of me can keep racing.
@fbr51223 жыл бұрын
@@fastguysslowbikes not really referring to your video. But you brought it up a couple of times. So I figured I’d get an opinion of a fast guy. the scenario that I typed was related to a race I was in this past weekend in Prescott AZ. Found myself stuck (no place to pass very narrow technical single track) right on the rear of 3-4 dudes I was obviously faster then. Another guy gets behind me and starts screaming to get out of the way. Well I have no idea weather I should yield to him because I can’t get to my race speed because of the people in front of me so I can’t really gauge weather I’m holding up the guy behind me or not. For that matter I can’t really say that I’m faster then the two guys in front of me because they are obviously being held up by the guy in front of them. I don’t think there is anything I can do but hang in. Turns out I dusted all of them at the first hill climb but I’m just curious given that situation what’s race etiquette there?
